The Viking stuff is starting to show up in one of our supermarket chains over here in England. The big but, though, is the price. I have seen the polar bear and chariot set, but it is the equivalent of US$17. That is before you factor in the postage. I looked into it and it would be a minimum of US$17.50. Believe it or not, that is the base price I would be paying. The problem with toys in general over here is that you American can generally take whatever price you are paying and do a straight exchange of teh dollar sign for the pound sign. A $5.99 figure works out at £5.99 ($12)

In all fairness, the monster truck WAS released stateside, but in Wild Quest colors.

With Indy going 1:18th I've got the feeling that we will start seeing these showing up in the US about the time the movie comes out. Remember how the pirates were all over the place so stores could cash in on Pirates 3 even though they only had Chap Mei instead of Hasbro products.

Hope Big Lots gets bunches of them in for the Christmas season since Chap Mei doesn't seem to be setting on the their rear but constantly making better and better toys.

Chap Mei does such a great job of making vehicles that are detailed enough to be great, but not so intricate to be fragile or expensive. It is a shame some of the best stuff has never been seen by most of us.

I would LOVE to see what they could do if they decided to go higher tech on their figures. The sculpting is great, just over-shadowed by steroid shoulders and lack of articulation. If they made o-ring style figures in a decent proportion just imagine what they might put out. Civilians and pirates and robbers oh my!

Here's a lot of Chap Mei figures I recently won on eBay. Some very cool figures in here.

Honestly if Chap Mei would just go that little extra step and add decent articulation to their figures, they could give Hasbro a run for their money.

The sculpting and paint apps are top notch. It makes me sad that 90% of every figure they make is unuseable.

The thought of o-ring or, dare I say it, 25th Style Chap Mei figures makes me giddy.

Well, the paint apps are pretty nice, but they still only cover half of the figure. If they could get 'em up to the articulation of Mattel's Speed Racer stuff, they might actually stay in my collection intact. As is, they're just an excellent source of unique, cheap parts.

I think they do a nice job of choosing their paint apps. They use web gear or other 'add on' parts to cover the fact that the area underneath and around may not have been touched. It's a shame that I end up using a head here and cutting off pouches etc. there and then the figure ends up in the trash. Of course if the articulation went up I imagine that they may no longer qualify as 'cheap' parts when the price climbed as well.

Problem is the second they do that they will have to up the price and will lose the core audence (parents on the cheap). They probably realizese this and thus its doubtfull any articulation will happen.

Still I enjoy them for what they are.
