So awesome. If I would have known HTS had the troop carrier, I would have ordered it with the 20%/free shipping code last week. I guess $4 won't hurt me if I can find it in stores.

And the series "Roar", where Longinus the undead searched for the Spear Of Destiny so that he could find peace finally, in the 5th-6th century AD. It was about a band of Celts who were fighting for freedom, ... under the very young leader ... portrayed by the late Heath Ledger and .. lasted a few episodes..which...oh well... :-D

never knew the spear of destiny made an appearance in other Indy media. growing up it was just the movies for me, never quite fit the show into the schedule.

i know it was the focus of the tv movie the librarian, but wasn't the spear of destiny also mentioned in Hellboy?

that thing gets around...

It was featured very briefly in the Hellboy movie, sitting in one of the display cases at the BPRD headquarters. It looked very similar to the one included with Mutt.

I found a whole load of figures and one of each truck today at a crappy Walmart. Of course, they wouldn't sell them to me. Their excuse - the night stockers just put things out, they don't know what it supposed to be out or not. What BS - its not my foault the manager isn't doing his/her job and instructing the employees to do their jobs correctly.

I am annoyed but I can wait to more days to get the stuff. Hopefully my Hasbro rewards certificate will arrive beforehand.

What I saw, I liked. They had Raiders and Crystal Skull stocked. They had the Cemetary Warrior which I haven't seen pics of online yet. Also had the Soviet Soldier but no Col. Dovchenko or Russian chick.

Hmm. So how does a place that put stuff out early and refuses to sell any of it NOT have the full two waves?

Because the good stuff is hidden in the back ;)

Gotta love Wal-Mart, where the employees pick out all the variants and good stuff before it ever hits the floor :)

In the case of this Walmart, I doubt thats whats going on. Lets just say its in an area where these figures would not be sought after much. I just assumed the cases have different assortments, not all of them contain the same figures. Whatever cases they put out did not have those figures - maybe I am wrong. By my guess there were 3-4 cases of regular figures and one case of deluxe. I imagine they have more in the back.

Yeah that was more in reference to my own Wal-Mart.

I love it when they bring out a pallette of opened, half picked out cases.

AWESOME!!!

All I know is that I'm keeping mine away from Cobra Commander, you never know what he might tempted to do with such an item...

The Spear of Destiny is one of the most "well known" artifacts in history/literature/entertainment. It shows up in just about every "supernatural" series across all media at some point or another. It wasn't really until after WWII though that the general idea of the Spear's supposed powers entered the public conciousness after rumors that the Spear was on a list of artifacts Hitler was supposedly searching for to ensure his total victory in the war (other artifacts include the Ark, the Philosopher's Stone, Napoleon's foreskin, Rasputin's "still living" head, and others.).

Some notable mentions:

The Spear was used by Hitler to keep the superheroes out of the European theater during WWII in the DC Universe.

Also in the DC Universe, the Spear is the only weapon capable of "killing" the Spectre as I noted previously.

In one of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer novels (I forget which), physically holding the Spear will prevent it's holder from being defeated/injured/killed.

In one of the early X-Files comics, the Spear is in a private collection of "holy" artifacts also including pieces of the one true cross and the actual Shroud Of Turin (according to the owner in the story, the one the public sees was a copy made by DaVinci).

The aforementioned "Librarian" film.

The Spear is mentioned fairly often in early John Constantine: Hellblazer comics.

In one of the Lara Croft novels, the Spear is the relic she is searching for.

In the Hellboy comics and film, the Spear is in the possession of the B.P.R.D.

I wish I could remember the name of the novel, but the villian's weapon was a sword whose blade was reforged from the tip of the Spear.
