This was posted to Joecanuck by user Dodge822. He says that he got it in a large parts lot.

My guess is that it's either a test run or a knock off, though it's also been proposed that it could have come with the Funskool EELS 2.

Does anyone have any idea what it is or where it came from?

As I just posted over in that thread, I'm now about 99% convinced it's a prototype for the production launcher.

I remember back when 375toys.com was around that this was a contest/give away of a prototype.

I may even still have a shipping box that has that logo on it showing this 'shark'.

I am 100% certain this is a prototype from the original release.

Note that this is prior to the mold being improved. The area where the tail attaches has more of a clip it locks into instead of twisting into the top and bottom halves.

I'd be curious to find out if that's the tail that goes with this test shot. I'm not sure why the tail would be shot in production silver when the other 3 fins which are all a softer material like the tail are shot in blue.... Could be a previous owner added a production tail to "complete" the look of a prototype acccessory.

I noticed the same thing, but if the connection point was altered before mass production, the tail likely wouldn't fit.

The connection point was changed, but the mold of the tail was not. The one I am referencing has a blue tail.

I've seen that silver in previous prototypes. Unfortunately since this was bought in a lot, the world will never know...
