discussion of the McFarlane special issue with a side by side of his pages compared to the ones rushed through and released in their place during the regular run.

Whoa, look at the size of Roadblock's hands in that panel where they're all huddled around the tv. He could palm Snake Eyes' head easily.

Personally, I prefer the Rogers version. The art looks a lot cleaner.

Mcfarlanes version is not bad. It's not good either, but it shows a young and still flawed artist.

Rogers' art, on the other hand, is epic. And #61 is easely my favourite issue of my favourite comic book. Rushed you say? Looks simple, gritty and effective to me.

I've never been a fac of McF (regardless of how talented you are, if your ego is bigger than your talent you're a douchebag - and he proved that fact by screwing Gaiman on the MiracleMan rights); his stuff easily has more snap than the Rogers' pages. Whoever inked Rogers sucked all the 'Marshall Rogers' out of his pages.

Back in the early 90s when I used to do conventions every week, I had the pleasure of being set up next to him a convention at the Shrine Auditorium in LA.

After being next to him all day and privvy to some very loud conversations, I officially put him on my list of 'not so pleasant people I want to spend day next to ever again,'.

I liked TM growing up. Not feeling these pages, though. Classic Joe look is where it's at.

Yeah, Rogers' looked better... He was already a veteran and Macfarlane's work was not quite as polished (breakdowns pretty good). Besides Rogers gave Joe that old war comic look and feel!

Macfarlane's work makes me think the Joes need to spend more time in the gym and less in the mess hall. They all look fat. What's up with that?

Steroids - they are retaining water. They have little time to workout, so they must maximize the few workouts they get.

I kinda like how Roadblock looks like he's about to crush Snake Eyes's head. "Yeah, that's for stealing all our page time!"
