This is one thing I've always wanted to do, but was never practical with a larger scale due to cost an space.

But now I'm collecting 1/18, I'm thinking there might some inexpensive civilian figures.

Of course, you can get pretty creative with civilians, they don't have to be as boring as real life people tend to be these days. It'd be cool to have loads of punks or hippies or guys that look like they just walked out of a jazz club or something. So really a lot of 3 3/4 figs that aren't immediately recognisable to be a particular Joe character or the like would work.

The only thing I can think of in stores right now is the Bruce Wayne from the Dark Knight. It's just a generic guy in a suit. Some Targets have them clearanced.

Beyond that, I'd hit a flea market. You may be able to find some old Adventure People or Johnny Quest for a few bucks.

There's a line at Walmart that comes with trucks and boats, I think it's Bass Pro Shops fishing and outdoor stuff, and there's also a CAT line I've seen with some figure packs of construction workers. All I can think of right now.

Corps use to have a civilian line with construction workers, fire fighters, paramedics, ect. Hit up e-bay, they usually go very cheap. ;-)

Civilians figure heavily in most of my upcoming diostories. You can make some pretty interesting folks just using what's out there with a little switching. Here's a few recipies:

Seraphina Pekkala (Golden Compass) body (remove the cloth accents) and the POTC Liz Swan head from the green dress sculpt. Generic gal in bathing suit.

Throw Seraphina's head on the green dress, and you have any office issue gal, or hair stylist, or whatever you can imagine.

Switch the Mutt boots for the high top pair of boots from the Elite Force BBi Paratroopers, and switch the black leather jacket arms and vest for the Indy brown one. Any mature head will do, and you have a generic guy fully poseable in high boots, like the punkers used to wear with the jeans rolled up.

Put the Starkiller head on the black dress Padme with the feather shawl(remove the shawl), and trim the lower dress half to the knees. Now you have either a great gal for a lounge singer, or since the arms and fingers are extended, a gal doing sign language.

The Golden Compass Bond head on the white robe Indy body makes a great civvie Bond. No muss no fuss.

Put the Tony head from the archer from the Golden Compass figure on that now headless Compass Bond one, and you have a great tall guy in dreads. (I'm using this one in the first few chapters of RE 4.5)

Any number of Indy head swaps will avail you a guy in simple shirt and jacket.

For more gals, the Evolutions Asian head on the Evolutions kimono'd Padme makes a great period female or full on maiko/geisha. Good for those using the up and coming Unimax figures.

As mentioned before the CORPS! had excellent construction guys.

I haven't scored one as of yet, but the HULK set with the Bruce Banner in civvies is another figure.

There are multitudes of figures when they show up at some Dollar Stores. Many of them with kid figures that are pretty sweet.

I got more, but gotta' run for now. Anywho, they are out there, but it takes a little switching around to make the look you might want. Not to mention, use some of the existing Joes that can pass. Tunnel Rat's bottoms, BC Cross Country, and even Wild Card's can do in a pinch.

They also sell them at Wallgreens and CVS. I bought a few for my son. THis week would be the time to pick them up, as most smaller stores have their toys on sale...

and police.

Also, I think JFak did a fun custom when he took the straight armed cops and put them on shipwreck bodies, very cool.

Echo the gashapon and shokugan figures, customizing gold there.

I just removed the neck beard head, from the RE 4 gashapon(got more than a handful of those guys sheesh), which for his height is Joe sized, and replaced it with the head of the Elite Force screaming Middle Eastern head from the RPG sculpt. Very interesting.

Also noticed that there are some Christmas ornaments of nurses, doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians, karate students, ballet performers, skiers, skaters, and the usual fire and police.

A much-recommended line... especially when dio-ing with Vintage Joes.

And of course, the Construction line included the most awesomest figure ever...

I liked the look of Street Fighter Gi Joes for Civvies, Guile at least.

Are there any other Joe spin off lines I could use? If I had a good picture gallery though, I could just copy and paste images of the figures in different poses, since ta's what i'll be doing with the figures I have anyway most likely.
