New hints, everyone! See the bottom.

2009 3.75" convention set hints:

"Imagine something old and something new,
Something foreign and nothing blue."

"I see my image reflected back,
And who is that person not wearing black?"

"I am you, and you are me,
That's why we have our own army."

"We battle in foreign lands but NOT in the shadows.
You've seen us before, but now we bend more."

that is sooooo RED SHADOWS or Action Force

I say The RED SHADOWS

If it means anything it's those AF figs that couldn't really move.

With that last hint, I'm inclined to agree with you.

Hint 1: Red Shadows (the old, foreign, no blue) in RAH or NS molds (the 'new' (for Action Force, at least))

Hint 2: Black Major/John Shepherd?

Hint 3: The Baron before he became CC?

Hint 4 (the clencher): The first line is sort of a non sequitur, they don't battle in the shadows, they ARE the shadows. The second line is the clue: "Now we bend more" would be the better articulation of RAH or NS figures versus the original Action Force.

I expect they will use the M.bison head for the Black Major ( as they should)

M. Bison is one of the worlds greatest leaders. Shadoloo is more powerful than the Red Shadows, and possibly Cobra.

More powerful than two organizations that continually fail at their mission statements?

Wow, I'd rather have shadowloo as an enemy than Microsoft, lol.

Red shadows, well, its certainly fan centered, thats pretty cool.

You should start a hidden terrorist organization. Captain Narceron would be a great name.. or Ian, that is a good one too

That last line, "You've seen us before, but now we bend more" is, I think, very significant. To me, it means they're taking some of the characters from the early Kenner-ish Palitoy days where the figures were no more articulated than early Star Wars figures (head, arms, legs), and redoing them as RAH figures.

This is getting very interesting! :-D :shifty:

Well, they have my interest.

Let's see if they can keep it.

I agree that the hints refer to the Red Shadows. The actual Red Shadows troopers used the Star Wars articulation, so these would definitely "bend" more than before. The "NOT in the shadows" part seems strange, but I think MarkM is correct in his interpretation.

At this point I'd only be surprised if it wasn't the Red Shadows. Great concept, but let's see if the set lives up to my expectations.

I am so doing a self custom.

Now to find a big enough head. . .to house my intellect, of course. . .and appease my neanderthal ancestors, lol. I used a roadpig head once, bleh!

Wait, is the guy in the welding mask from action force? I always like that character.

I can see them doing just Red Shadows for the villain side of the set, but for the good guy portion, I bet we see at least one, probably 2 Joes. Be interesting to see if they go with 2 different army builders, or just one. I could see them doing only one if they do new tooling for some of the heads (Ironblood and the Red Shadows for sure)

IF this is the Red Shadows and IF Master Collector does the figures justice, Iwill be thrilled.

But I'll hold my excitement until I start seeing pictures. Master Collector has let me down too many times before.
