Hurricane, but only because it was the least of all evils.

1990 was a weird year for Cobra. The HAMMERHEAD was nowhere near as impressive as the BUGG from two years prior, even though they seemed to have similar purposes. The HURRICANE was okay, but it was no Night Raven or Rattler, and I really hated the Vapor's assymetrical, silver-painted helmet that made him look like a BAT on a bad day.

The RAGE was okay, but a little too low-slung in my opinion. The second version also had a better color scheme. Ultimately went with the PIRANHA. Small, but it really LOOKED like a small attack boat, something that Cobra sort of needed. Good competition for the years-prior Devilfish.

Ditto!!!!!

although the Rage tank was a pretty decent vehicle, It just seems to do too much all at once. Is it a tank? Minelayer? and the Battering ram front kinda doesnt work on an angled forward vehicle. its almost like an armed racecar!

The Pihrana is a very cool and functional vehicle, actually pushes the Devilfish out a bit with the functional depth charges and speed engine. I love that the cockpit guns have handles for the pilot.

The Hammerhead, in my opinion was almost redundand with the Bugg already in service. although it does get cool points for the water airlock and all those Sub pods.

but the Hurricane in my opinion was the best cobra jet EVER. it picks up where the Rattler leaves off. (As I really never considered the Rattler to be a Jet, more of an air to ground fighterbomber) has the same VTOL system that the rattler has (but looks a bit cooler) a better two seater (my biggest gripoe about rattler re-releases is that the rear gunner canopy was missing) A TON of missiles (that can be shot from the missile drone) and the two seater cockpit.

I have 3 of these bad boys as my main cobra interceptor (until I can get a hold of those PTE jets). Oddly, I dont have any Vapors (25th Wild Weasel and a bunch of Gyro Vipers have the honor of flying the Hurricanes)

I say Pirannha cause it does the most to successfully propel the original Cobra storyline. It's a plausible terrorist group weapon, it fills a niche between the night landing and the Moray, it has playability and looks cool. I only wish tha had made the yellow parts light grey to match the Moray.

The Hammerhead technically isn't redundant - it isn't a sub, its a beach patrol vehicle for Cobra Island that has mini-subs attached to it. The BUGG was a submarine. I read that somewhere, not sure if it was on the packaging or the trading card. It has lots of great playability but it also represents the goofy-ness that took over the toy line in those later years.

I have never understood the fascination with the Hurricane. I guess I'm just not that much into Sci-Fi.

The Rage just leaves me dumbfounded. It was some designers "triangle"period, it lacks all plausibility, the slanted wheels make no sense, the paper thin mines make no sense, the color scheme makes no sense. And what about looking squished makes it an "urban attack" vehicle? Perhaps redone as a freaky polar attack test vehicle would be better.

This!

I personally think it's the best plane Cobra ever had. Certianly, it's the best fighter they had.

It's mostly low profile design would be an asset in just bout any theater. The wheels, don't make a lick of sense. I just love how they used a scaled down turret from an old M60A2 Patton tank. The A2 was the first model M60 tank to be retired, because that turret didn't work. It even still has the gunner's and loader's hatches on it. It's like they just cut a hole in the top of a model tank turret, and pulled a mold from it.

That is some awesome intel, Greyryder, and it was common for the designers to pull parts from model kids to add detail to the vehicle designs. I suppose with the Rage they got greedy and took the whole model kitt turret.

The Hurricane really bothers me when it comes to the VTOL function, with engines only in the rear, this thing could never hover in real life. That being said, in this group of Cobra vehicles it is the winner because it is the first real fighter/interceptor Cobra got and it just has "the look".

The Hammerhead definately impresses in the size category; too bad it looks like a bunch of Nylint toys cobbled together.

I really like the Piranha mold, however the colors (particularly the yellow parts) didn't help this vehicle. However, I love the recolored version of this boat when it came out in the Street Fighter line (maybe when we hit all the other lines we should have a poll for Street Fighter vehicles, Tim?)

I have the same problems with the Rage that everyone elese here mentioned. I think the worst one is those wheels, I imagine the wheels were like iron pizza cutters designed to ruin city streets...but even that sounds lame. The one good thing about this vehicle is the rocket pod makes a perfect UB-32 rocket launcher for your Hind or other helicopter customs. (Special mention of thanks to Greyryder for the interesting observation regarding the turret).

The Dictator is one of those vehicles that was only worth purchasing for the driver. And even that is questionable.

Piranha, over the Hurricane. Just because, to me, it's more playable than the Hurricane. It's smaller and I like that kind of vehicle sizes. And it has a bit more awesomeness on it. The Piranha just screams "speed + action", has just enough rockets, dept charges (brilliant!) and two machineguns.

The Hurricane is #2, great VTOL fighter. Vapor doesn't exactly match my idea of a matching pilot.
The Rage has too much weapons. They're all very nice, but together on one vehicle of that size is overdone. I also like the driver's seats and the hatches, which would also make fine doors in a building.
Hammerhead is OK, but it looks like Hasbro thought:" Hey, the BUGG was a succes, let's do it again and add more vehicles and springloaded crap!". They should've been more unobtrusive/modest (what's the correct word here?).

The Hurricane is one of my favorite vehicles ever, though I could deal without the yellow. I definitely feel that it is far superior to all other Cobra planes.

To be honest, I thought all of the 1990 Cobra/IG vehicles were pretty good, except for the Dictator. I actually sort of prefer the Hammerhead to the Bugg, as I think the Bugg doesn't look very good on land (although I've softened on that stance over the years). The Piranha is a cool speedboat, and I somehow love the Rage even if I agree that it is not very believable (I definitely prefer the 1997 colors).
