Ok, I know Justin's already covered this, but since I managed to get a factory-fresh, non-accessorised Baroness in the mail from Hong Kong today ($7 shipped!), I figured I'd give everyone my unsolicited $.02 along with some comparison shots of the new 5-pack Baroness mold.

I snagged the Movie figure off the 'Bay to use for my Underworld Selene custom. I figured with all the buckles, pleather and lack of a sculpted Cobra logo, she'd be perfect. Afterward I broke down and bought a couple of Cobra 5-packs once I realized how awesome the 5-pack Baroness fig was.

Sorry for the blurry pics -- I just bought a new camera and am trying to get the settings squared away.

Here are my thoughts -- the sculpt for the movie fig is decent enough - WAY better than the original 25A fig, but not as good as the "Resolute" mold. I like where they were trying to go with the movie fig, but it falls a little flat compared to the superior Resolute mold.

Ignoring the freaky headsculpt for a minute (which looks NOTHING like Sienna Miller, but isn't near as ugly as we thought from early pics), the body just has some issues. First - she's got a flat butt/wonky spine thing going like the first one - unlike the Resolute fig which has a BUTT. Yeah, laugh it up, but she's built like a girl that deserves to be in a pleather jumpsuit. Reso Baroness has curves that the other two can't match - and when you're trying to look for custom fodder to make a Catwoman or a Kate Beckinsale, that makes a difference.

Then there's the issue with the way her shoulders & hips are put together -- the Resolute fig seems to follow a more natural line and curve whereas the Movie fig has some gaps and sharper edges. With the hair hiding the shoulders, it doesn't really matter, but again, I'm approaching this from a custom fodder standpoint.

So overall, it's a decent enough figure - but compared to the Resolute mold, there's no contest. The only drawback I can find to the Reso body is that damn sculpted logo - which is a pain to sand down. I may end up adding some sculpted details on my Selene and eventual Catwoman to cover it up better.

Anyway, thought I'd share -- now I'm off to see if the same dude in Hong Kong has any Scarlett figs. Cheers!

Hmm. Wow, thanks for this. I may end up passing on movie Baroness altogether based on this, and she was one of the few I was planning to get. That 5 pack Baroness is hands down the winner.

Agreed on the 5-pack Baroness. Best I've seen yet. Not feeling the new Baroness, but I might get it for the carded Sienna body profile.
