I knew about the old DC comics but I've never seen these before. These predate even the 12" figures. Though no relation to our GIJOE, someone should make customs. There are a few characters name also.

I like how in almost every cover his helmet is always flying off the back of his head, didn't he know that's what the chinstrap was for?

it was Duke even back then. his name might not have been Conrad Hauser but that looks like the inspiration for him.

There's something really unsettling with how happy he looks on most of these covers.

I also like the old trope of the helpless damsel in distress being in play on many of the covers. Also, is it me, or some of the women look more womanly than what we see on current-day comic covers? They look more timeless and appealing :shifty:

check the old detective novels from back then and they fit RIGHT in with the covers.

Wow; you weren't kidding. That dude loves his job.

Also, I'm calling dibs on "STOP THAT TANK! It's loaded with DEATH" as a song title.

The cool part about those GIJOE comics is they take place in the Korean War, since Joe Colton was in Vietnam there could be connections. Maybe that Joe is related to Joe Colton or maybe Colton heard of him.

Here's another Character that would fit in Dynamite Joe and his nemesis Half Mask.

Forget that. I want to know how a half sub works!

That first Dynamite Joe cover is not without some political subtext.

"America's Explosive Marine" makes him sound like Scud the Disposable Assassin. "The Blast-Crazy Marine" makes him sound...well, unfit for duty. In other words, I love the taglines for both; good find!
