I've been working on the seemingly endless task of organizing/finishing my room. While doing this, I've been pulling out pieces of my collection that had been packed away. One that always surprises me when I pull it out is the Funskool Devilfish. There's just something about the coloring on it that I like so much better than the coloring of the Hasbro version. The Hasbro one may be more 'realistic', but Funskool's just grabs me. I also think the FS Windmill had a better color scheme, if you ignore the goofy backpack, and the FS Roadblock, while close to the Hasbro 1992 version, has better pants, I think.

Most of the FS ones were close to the same color as the Hasbro original, or were just different enough you could tell they were trying for the color and fell short. But some really just went a different direction. Funskool is the only foreign producer of Joe property I'm really familiar with, beyond the common stuff you see from Brazil or Argentina. Are there other foreign vehicles or figures where you think the coloring is an improvement over the original Hasbro version?

Absolutely.

As goofy as TF Outback is, I've always loved that scheme. One because of the giant kitty shirt, and two because it aged him. That just lights my imagination on fire.

Also, the Argen 7 Glenda made that boring tired Scarlet mold far more interesting.

You know... Both of those completely slipped my mind while I was composing my initial post, and I was trying to think of some non-FS stuff to add, but I completely agree with you on both counts.

The Funskool Mobat is a nice, realistic OD color.
I like the Argentinian Thunder Machine's color scheme.

Z-Force APC, missiles on the turret, medical station that fits the stretcher, and the camo scheme just works better. - http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/toys/00 ... index.html

The card art, especially for Cobra, from Japan - http://www.yojoe.com/international/japa ... rtan.shtml

And let's not forget this guy.

The black SAS repaint of the Wolverine is freaking cool as hell. The black Vamp is pretty cool, but it loses points for the yellow.

I know some people swear up and down on the regular Hit&Run but I kinda prefer the skin tone and more vibrant green outfit of the Brazilian version.

RE: Z-Force APC, oh yeah. I really wish Hasbro would've brought that back over here as a re-release or mail-in exclusive. Bonus points for the fact it'd still work with modern figures because of the foot pegs.

RE: Black VAMP - The yellow is what makes me really like it. It's just a Stinger with different kit without the yellow, but with that yellow, wow. (Plus, I'm partial to yellow on toys, anyway)

RE: Hit & Run - I'll agree with you there. In fact, I never had H&R as a kid, because I didn't like the way he looked whenever I'd see him hanging on the pegs. When I got one as an adult, I realized I'd missed out on a figure I would've had a lot of fun with as a kid, but as a kid, the "green skin" with all green camo uniform just ruined him for me.

I think the Action Force HQ is a ton better than the US release. Also, Ninja Ku is a great reuse of the Storm Shadow mold.

The SAS Fang is really sexy. Hard to say if I like it better than the domestic release, but it is just as good for sure. I also like the Action Force Whirlwind and the brighter green.

Also, while I don't like Brazillian Bullet-Proof better than domestic Bullet-Proof... I DO like his Brazilian name a lot more.

Sureshot.

Simply stated, there's some awesome foreign figures and vehicles out there. I first realized that there were differences when a pen-pal in England (in the days before the Internet) informed me of Tiger Force Psyche-Out and Outback, and was kind enough to send them to me. Then he sent me the rest of the new guys when they came out -- Sneak Peek, Blizzard, Hit & Run, and Tunnel Rat. When I finally had the chance to visit England, there was a pop culture convention there (TV, comics, toys, movies, etc.), and I was able to get Quarrel (for a measly pound) and a few others. We stopped at a small toy shop where I found some interesting versions of Mutt and Spirit. I've been fortunate enough to, one way or another, track down figures from Europe, South America, India, etc, and I'm glad to have them all. And I really don't know of any other toy line offhand that has been THAT global with THAT many distinctive variations!

There are some subtle ones, too. Chinese Cobra Commander and Tripwire are actually much nicer imo because the arm color is consistent across the forearm, upper arm, and even the elbow.

Yes.

Dusty was already awesome, Felino is just as cool IMO.
Red, (Mexican) Predacon is an improvement for sure.
