My favorite Starcom figure as a kid too. :like:

Y'know, I thought that was who it was, but I wasn't sure, especially since the hair color was wrong relative to a picture from the cartoon that I came across. Thanks -- and thanks for that link! I've got almost twenty of these guys here, and I can't remember who most of them are.

Starcom...the almost perfect line . I love it so much and would be open to a reboot .

It's not a reboot, magnet-based, or 32nd-scale; but you might still be interested in the Hell Screamerz project working its way to being a Kickstarter campaign:

Hm.

The designs are good enough for me to keep an eye on the project.

A friend had a lot of Star Com when we were kids. I didn't like the designs of the vehicles but thought the figures were neat. I think Hasbro owns the property now, so doubt we'll see a return of them. Too bad Mattel didn't snatch them up when Coleco did its reorg a few years ago. Star Com would be nearly perfect re-imagined in the Mega Blok style.

One has to wonder if there is any room for another space based franchise in pop culture outside of the big 2 (SW and Trek)?

I'd love an alternative space based toy line like Starcom

I desperately need to get it updated, but the old site is mirrored here:

It looks like someone painted the eyes on that Dash. Dash was my first StarCom figure ever and still my favorite.

Here is my favorite episode:

Notpicard i've been a long time fan of Starcom and a fan of that site over the years. Thank you for all of your (many) efforts . Sincerely.

I know Starcom isn't coming back but with Mega Bloks providing the frame work (articulation and roughly the same scale of figures) i don't see why vehicles and figures that are similar to the original line couldn't be created.

Perhaps we need a Mega Bloks custom recipe thread on this site...

How hard would it be to cast out some metal 2x1 flat no-stud pieces, and to find magnets that fit into an MB's foot sockets?

The MB astronaut figures would be a good place to start.
Add a few color accents here and there, perhaps use various upper arm colors to differentiate the various divisions or characters and you have your galactic heroes ready to go.
Use the bricks to custom build your own vehicles and voilĂ .

@AdrienViedt, it'd be a lot easier to create a blank with a rim or lip around it that a piece of flat steel could be glued into.

If anybody is serious about designing vehicles to put together, I'd recommend LDraw or LeoCAD. It's like CAD for bricks. You design with bricks on your PC then print out a parts list and/or instructions so you can build your model with actual bricks. If you want to use Shapeways or one of the other sites, or have access to a printer, you can even print out models or parts to make your own custom brick pieces.

(ETA and this is starting to drift way off course of the OP, but I saw this and couldn't resist: You can add these parts to your install of LDraw or other brick CAD software and design castles with it. This would let you then know what parts to buy, or let you print out facades or even full castles if you wanted)
