http://news.toyark.com/2016/03/30/hiya- ... res-200560 And you can vote on what characters they'll make: http://fans.vote/vote/AClghrvGfb4/we-wi ... already-in I'm not that impressed with their Colonial Marines, but why not vote anyway. |

Interesting. Didn't they already sneak a couple of the Predator characters into the Joe line? |

Yeah, I don't think they could do a Billy that is a better Billy than the last few Spirits. |

If their aliens weren't so small and fragile, I might've been interested in their Predator. If their Colonial Marines weren't so inaccurate and crappy looking, I might've been interested in their human Predator characters. As is, I'm not expecting much from these. |

To be fair, their ColMars aren't based on the movie outfits or actors, but on the game; to which they hew fairly well, imho. I assumed they chose to do the game instead to avoid having to pay actor likeness fees. I'm wondering what's changed about their situation now that they will be doing a movie's versions. Maybe down the road they can tweak the ColMars to do movie versions of them as well. |

Have you actually played the game? Because I have and those figures are still inaccurate and crappy compared to the videogame models, that are based heavily on (almost exact same uniforms and armor as) the film look. I would've been happy if they actually looked like the basic videogame models. Actor likenesses aside, they still look like "LASER BLAST". Just because the figure can't look like Bill Paxton or Michael Biehn, doesn't mean it has to look like the Pilsbury Doughboy. If they were $10-$15 figures it might be more forgivable, but at $25 it's flat out unacceptable. |

Of course I haven't played the game. I'm not some kind of dork, y'know. The figures look fine to me, and a much better offering than the old Snap Kits figures that were basically the same price nearly ten years ago. |

This is a fair enough point, since it is your money you would be throwing at them, you should at least find them to be 'fine' enough.AdrienVeidt wrote: ...and a much better offering than the old Snap Kits figures that were basically the same price nearly ten years ago. THIS is where I call "LASER BLAST".The old snap kits figures are pure Colonial Marines awesome. Period. If anyone cared to look around, I found many of my Hicks and Apone figures for about $12 a piece and Drake figures for about $10. Half the price, FAR more accurate, and sculpts that blow the Hiya figures out of the airlock. I'm guessing you never had the Hot Toys figures? Only someone who never had the Hot Toys Marines would be able to say that these Hiya figures are even remotely as good, let alone better than the Hot Toys figures, that as you pointed out, came out nearly ten years ago. |

Yeah, I had a case or set each of all three Snap Kits sets Hot Toys came out with. Only the Appleseed figures are actually well-made figures. The Aliens are far too spindly, and all of the Aliens/Preds/ColMars were near-impossible to assemble and about a third of them have taken their name too seriously and snapped somewhere, usually the knee. And none of the headsculpts are remotely accurate but were intended to be. I'm not saying they're the awesomest thing ever or even the best figures currently available; I just get the feeling most of the ire for the Hiyas is because they're not movie-based. |
