Post subject:  Articulation Angst...

Is it bothering anybody that Hasbro is doing away with much of their figures' articulation (in their Marvel, Star Wars and possibly some Joe figures)?

I'm actually pretty irked that they've been doing this with their Marvel figures.

Yup. It's why I've cut way back on my purchases the last couple of years. I do still get certain figures, but with the intention of bashing them onto better-articulated MU, HACKS, or Joe figures.

Just glad I have so many good fodder figures stashed away - it's one time that hoarding actually paid off ;-)

Yeah, it's nice for the wallet. I pretty much will only buy a non-SA figure if a) there's a way to easily customize an SA version, or b) it's a figure that doesn't require a lot of articulation to be present in a dio. (like General Hux or something).

Star Wars Black Series 3.75" being a Wal-Mart exclusive is ridiculous. I hate that those aren't more readily available because they're really nice. I think the Black Panther/Agent 13 two pack was the last Marvel product I bought at full price. GI Joe is hands down the most articulated in mass retail, but Marauder, BossFight and the other kickstarters have really picked up where Hasbro and Mattel have dropped the ball.

Mattel *never* had the 18th ball, but it's ridiculous that nowadays the Mattel-owned MegaBloks lines are more articulated than anything Hasbro regularly puts out. And at half the size!

Hey, I'm loving my ~1:36 MB world. Throw in MP TFs and similarly scaled 3P offerings and I still have lots of articulation in my collection.

I recently looked at some of the Rogue One figures and I thought, "Hey, where are the elbow and knee joints?"

...and waist/torso joints and shoulder and hip balls and wrist and ankle joints? But at least we get some sweet non-canon useless slip-on weapons crap.

The Jyn and Deathtrooper figures in the Walmart exclusives are *great* figures too. We know Hasbro can put good stuff out if they try, which makes those 5POA figs even more annoying.

They really are great. They have added some articulation that I never noticed before.
Jyn has cut thigh articulation.
Death Troopers have hinged wrists!

I would say these are the only good things at Walmart. My local 10 stores no longer carry 1/18th scale Marvel figures. I don't collect the 6 inchers & apparently not many people do since they had to rollback the Star Wars to $16.93.

I can't complain too much, it's saved me a lot of money over the past years.

Since Wal-Marts around here stink, even finding the 3 3/4" black series is difficult. The only Star Wars items I've bought at retail were $2 clearanced Force Awakens peg warmers. Even then, they were pretty so-so for 2 bucks. :-P
