I just checked the Quick Start rules and the system follows a popular trend in miniature gaming where the quality of a model/skill is represented by the die that you have to roll to use a skill versus a constant 5 and above equals a success.
Better the model/skill, the bigger the die, so a marksman will have a D12 in shooting and a low ranking rookie might only have a D6 and less chance to score a hit.
I also like the alternative activation instead of the old outdated I go, you go.
