Toys R Us is going to close 180 stores in the next few months. Rather than just post a link to an article, I have listed the stores that will be closing below. It looks like Des Moines will be losing both of their TRUs. I can't speak for most of the stores on the list, but the two in Oklahoma need to close. The Norman location is in a strip mall that has become a ghost town. TRU and Barnes and Noble are the only two stores left over there, and Barnes and Noble is moving. The OKC location is next to a mall that has fallen on hard times. All the large department stores have closed and it has been taken over by gangs. No one goes to that TRU out of safety concerns. So, if much of the rest of the list had similar problems, this may be a great way of trimming the fat.

This is the one closest to me: Tucson 4619 N. Oracle Rd AZ I'm sincerely shocked, since it's right across the street from Tucson's largest mall. This will only leave one TRU in Tucson, and it's clear across town and not easy for me to get to. I am very upset about this. CORRECTION -- I thought something was a little off about that address, so I checked. They're actually closing the Babies "R" Us that's across the street from the Toys "R" Us, which is located at 4525 N. Oracle Rd. I feel badly for the employees of the Babies "R" Us, and its customers, but the Toys "R" Us, thankfully, is remaining open!

My local store is closing. Closest one after that is 40 minute or more drive. Bah. Plus side is that I hate the shopping center it was in. The place had only one east bound exit, always a long wait and always some panhandlers there. Unfortunately there is a 5 Below there I like to check.

I have a 45m drive to anywhere I didn't even know toys r us had a store at "bass pro" drive. that is a new swanky outlet mall in pearl ms. I can't believe they are not closing the only one in Jackson ms, everything is leaving that area . there is so much crime that jpd sits a car with blue lights flashing in that lot all day....

Hate to see this, but I'm expecting this to be the next few years in retail. Kinda sad to see the Tucson Oracle store shut down. Years ago, that was the one that got most of the new stuff in town. Now, you go in it at night, and it's like a ghost town.

Sucks too, I usually stopped at the one on University when ever I was down there. Been going there since '95 when my brother moved down there. We got our plush Peyton Manning there, on a whim, for $0.02, on our way to Denver in 2014. He became our vacation mascot and we took pictures of him at places we went (like a flat Stanley). Thankfully our TRU in Cedar Rapids is not on the list, and surprisingly neither is the one at the Williamsburg Outlet Mall. It is essentially a KB*Toys store with the TRU name on it.

It's the Babies "R" Us across the street that's closing. I stopped into the TRU, though, after the announcement, and needless to say the clerks are relieved. They've also been inundated with phone calls since the article didn't distinguish between TRUs and BRUs.

I don't know how TRUs will be affected up here in Canada, but I went to the one closest to my house last Sunday and things were pretty sad. The shelves and pegs were pretty bare. I don't know if it's the after Christmas drought or just the state of the business.

One of my local friends went to the one in Wayne, NJ that is closing and the sales are not all that great: 10% off the "decent" toys ("Star Wars", "Marvel", etc.) 30% off clearance items and non-desirable toys. No discount on video games/electronics/etc. Hopefully the discounts get better, quickly LOL

I'll hit my closing store eventually, as I have some reward dollars, but they really don't have anything I want. But on another forum, someone spoke with a TRU employee and was told the closing stores clearance won't be that great. All the high-end stuff will be sent to other stores and that some closing stores will get the junk from other stores to try and move.
