Despite it looking more like something Cobra would use ....

my first thought was :

I'm actually gonna give it to my Reed Richards.

Never watched SZ. Is it worth catching up on as a 50yo?

In my opinion , yes , and even more so because you've seen more pop culture history than many and might appreciate the parallels (the Walking Dead) and industry "six degrees of separation" more.

For example - Joseph Michael Straczynski wrote the pitch.

It's one of few shows that could be brought back today (especially today with the virus) and not need many updates outside of tech advancing 40 years.

It's worth the binge. I'd love a rerelease in 1/32 or 1/18th if it included vehicles . Btw...someone in the FB customizing group has pictures of vehicles they clearly based upon the Spiral Zone unicycles.

.....this is more inspiration to design a zone pod and print it. Maybe Mark will ;)

Unpopular opinion- Spiral Zone was better than GI Joe .

I just got mine from BBTS and I have to thank AV for bringing this to my attention. Its a really great dio piece that has lots of versatility. I really want to slap some Cobra logos on it so I might get another just to keep as a generic "macguffin".

You're welcome, brother. It's that exact 'mad scientist macguffin' vibe I wish I had more of in toy form.

Hey, speaking of... nab one of the Ready2Robot kits if you can, full-price if need be. The figure and goo effect is NBD but the container itself is a very nice sci-fi pod if you need cargo containers, field generators, etc. It separates into 4 levels from the bottom up (each level dropping off releases pressure on the tabs that lock the next level in place) with the 04 top level having a pop-off lid for the the goo container (you press up from the bottom to literally pop the lid off) with its own pop-off lid for the goo with the pilot minifigure drowning in it. Apologies for the thoughtless lack of scale-comparison pics, but the completed pod is right about a 4" figure's height.

Ignore the lens on the top cap, it's custom. You can see the 01-04 numbers from bottom to top:

Each pod comes with two like-colored tabs to connect to other pods hexagonally. I have two lighter-colored pods I've stolen tabs from:

Ignore the parts in level 01, they're also from a custom:
