What character versions do you think ar most under rated?

I'll start Roadblock V4 might be the best vintage Roadblock

It's blasphemy because the v1 is what made me a Joe fan and still ranks as my fave RAH fig of all time; but SciFi v2 is a better figure in nearly all respects. That they never issued him in his v1 neon green continues to flabbergast me. *THAT* would have been a magnificent figure.

And yeah, that RB ranks amongst the best RAH figures ever made, imho. It only got better when released in that 6pack with the swirly camo plastic. A lot of those later RAH headsculpts are as good as anything being done today.

No doubt. This one is tops.
I think so many of that era are underrated because of the terrible paint schemes. He manages to be balanced perfectly.
(just realized that I misunderstood the thread premise so I'm editing)

Just in general- I think Incinerators are grosssly underrated-color and sculpting is amazing.

I think Sub-Vipers and the Laser Vipers v2 are really underappreciated as army builders from that era. The Laser Viper is a superior version to the original v1 AND a superior use of that sculpt. Sub-Viper is a superior use of the Sludge Viper mold

I would love to get more of the Laser-Viper v2 figures to use as Cobra Navy Troops, the Sea Snakes. They would be the crewmen on every Cobra ship.

With a different head, it would even work as a Rattler Gunner.

The red chest plate figure is pretty awesome! It could be a nice torso to make a o ring robocop .

I've gotta mention the Battle Corps Beachhead and Frostbite figures.

Beachhead, with some paint apps, could be useful for a squad of SEAL Team 6 or CQC-type characters.

Frostbite, with head swaps, is a perfect base for more Winter Ops JOEs.

These two Snake Eyes that were TRU six pack exclusives. The 91 mold holds up well in desert camo and looks so much better than the original blue. The arctic patrol pack used the Sub Zero mold with the 91 head and it could very well be a default Snake Eyes not just cold weather. Interesting camo pattern in that set as well although Snake Eyes is the only one to get the black in his camo.

Great question. I'm a big fan of the Viper version 2 in the purple that the club reused for the Iron Anvils. Recently I picked up another EELs version 2 with the robot shark to use for an Escape from Spy Island scene.

The Cobra version is the better of the 2 decos in my opinion.

I like that figure's head. I have always wanted 1 for a custom but never came across one.

I am a big fan of Sgt Slaughters Marauders Barbecue. To me, it can be used as more of CBR trooper with a simple headswap.

I think the Mega Marines Clutch and Gung-ho are underrated along several other notable figures form those early 90’s sunsets. Yeah the colors are out there but the molds are amazing the bio armor play pattern was something that I loved as a kid.

In my early customizing days, 2003-ish, I painted the neon on Gung-Ho black while leaving the "camo" untouched. I put a cast Viper head on it to make a Jungle Viper before that was an actual thing.

I second Roadblock V4, Sub-Viper, Snake Eyes V26 and Shock Viper.

I feel the same about another bunch too. Some because of the sculpt, but mostly due to the colors.

Image
Actually more because of a personal color preference. I like V1 a lot too, but the green on his torso and knee pads/boots never matched on all the V1's I got through the years. Same thing goes for the skin colored sleeves + collar and the squares on the gloves.

Image
Duke V4 looks more imposing than V1, who's smile is a bit too friendly IMO. I do like V1 because of the resemblance to the cartoon + comic, but V4 is extra realistic.

Image
I prefer this version over V1, because of the camo scheme and that camo looks much more like the original card art.

Image
Only compared to Range Viper V1. I only would've painted the eyes black.

Image
Because she's visually more interesting.

Image
Better colors than V2.

Image
I really love the V1 as a figure, awesome accessories. V1 doesn't fit in with the IG ranks enough though, color wise. V2 became a Cobra figure, I like the jungle theme. Would've preferred the helmet done in brown.

Image
Compared to Flak-Viper, since Nullifier V2 had absolutely nothing to do with Nullifier V1. Awesome color scheme, it's one of my favorite troops.

Image
Compared to Mega-Viper, this is just :aye:

I'm still in doubt about Lifeline V4 compared to V1.

Comic pack ARAH Roadblock. The colors are bit too bright, but the headsculpt is downright perfect.
-
'97 Cobra Commander. Armored CC in blue? Really underrated.
-
NS Bazooka. The problem is that it reads as Zap, through and through.
-
NS Hawk. The skirt hampers the legs, but the headsculpt is great and the wrists are pre-positioned to hold a rifle.
-
BTR Gung Ho. Wonderful design... except for the shins and forearms. Even with the pegs, it's still good.
-
NS Destro (in turtleneck). Casual wear with rivets on the mask!
-
ROC Scarlett (camouflage uniform). A very simple design, making for a nice change for a character whose uniforms are usually very busy.
