Besides the main groups (GI Joe, Oktober Guard, Cobra, Dreadnoks, Iron Grenadiers, Head Hunters), what other groups do you have in your take of the GI Joe universe. Personally I use: "Good Guys" GI Joe - US team Adventure Team - Joe Colton's old allies Oktober Guard - Russian team Action Force - EU equivalent of the Joes/Oktober Guard Commandos Em Ação - the Brazilian equivalent made up of the Brazilian exclusives Argen 7 - the Argentinian team Commandos Force - the Indian team based around the Funskool repaints. Corps - UN special task force (based on Lanard's Corps) Phoenix Guard - Jugglers' attempt to replace the Joes MASK - Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand Neutral/Mercenary Iron Grenadiers - personal private defense force of Destro Arashikage Clan - the ninja clan with ties to many other organizations Athena - private guard of the DeCobray family Skulls - mercenary squad led by Major Bludd Night Creepers - swiss bankers/ninjas Marauders - original Corps villains reimagined as an unscrupulous mercenary squad Villains Cobra - the original bad guys Dreadnoks - Zartan's biker gang Head Hunters - Headman's drug empire Red Shadows - the Action Force bad guys Black Dragons - military group ran by a renegade ninja IRON Army - former ally of Colton, General Blitz leads a cyborg army SKAR - Iron Klaw's Soldiers of Kaos, Anarchy and Ruin Curse - Lanard's techno terrorist organization Coil - Serpentor's splinter organization Blue Ninjas - AI terrorist organization. Council of Doom - Dr X's group V.E.N.O.M. - Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem I think I covered them all. How about all of y'all? |

Post subject: | Re: Organizations In Your Universe |
I guess the majority of my universe is centered around the GIJOE universe, with explanations how outside media fits in. A lot of these may just be different branches of the same organization. Men In Black (Agents K & J): a secret US organization devoted to protecting the Earth from alien threats. You never heard of them? Good, you're not supposed to. Men in Black (live action Transformers): Same organization as Agents J & K, but specialized personnel to handle Alien AI (Transformers). The NEST troops could be people some of the JOEs know and have worked with before, before they became members of NEST. I would throw the Independance Day people in there too. Stargate: secret organiztion that does whatever the Stargate people do. James Bond (British Secret Service): I'm actually torn on this as I could use this as a well-known book series, a well-known film series, the video game versions, and an actual real world secret agent the JOEs would work with. Star Wars: Possibly having interactions due to some wormhole or Stargate type means of getting from one section of the galaxy to another. Or a well known media universe that the JOEs might watch the movies, read the books, collect the figures, etc. Star Trek: Interactions due to Q or some time travel method. Not sure about possible timeline contamination if the Star Trek people somehow get lazy and leave future tech behind. Godzilla/King Kong Monsterverse: Might be used as more of a braintrust type organization. Not saying there is a Godzilla or a King Kong running around, but if they have never been seen or they are on some unknown remote undiscovered island, they just haven't been introduced yet. Marvel/DC/other comic characters: I don't have full on superheroes running around. Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, and others all work for the Daily Planet. Peter Parker and J Jonah Jameson work for the Daily Bugle. Tony Stark makes GIJOE Accelerator suits and other armaments, consulting with the military on new ideas. Bruce Wayne is a millionaire/billionaire and reports from Gotham describe some nut is running around dressed up as a bat, but that's more on the urban legend side. Bruce Banner is a scientist, along with a number of other brainy people. No superheroes or villains running around, but most reports of unusual activities are reported in grocery store checkout line magazines with stories about batboys and Elvis sightings. Captain America is remembered as an WWII *propaganda* campaign to sell war bonds and last report was he was missing somewhere in the North Atlantic. If there are Mutants, again their stories might be the topic of the checkout line periodicals. Terminator/Alien/Predator: These would be controlled 0r covered up by the MIB teams. Any info about them would be so classified, that there is probably a special clean up team that either eliminates the threat or wipes their memory. MACUSA: Gotta cover the magical aspect. Basically we are all muggles or no-majs, but in our defense we don't even know we are Muggles or no-majs. That's how good that organization is. We just don't know. Ghostbusters/Scooby-Doo/Encyclopedia Brown/Three Investigators/Archer/Venture Bros, etc, etc, etc, etc: These can either be used as various media franchises, or 'consultants' in universe, depending on the need. Could have X-Files under the MIB umbrella, the Supernatural guys, etc. Mack 'The Executioner' Bolan, Phoenix Force, Able Team, SOBs, Killmaster, Remo Williams, etc. Many of the JOEs might have served with them in Nam or in the service. I know there is other examples, but these were the ones I can remember. EDIT: These are in addition to the ones touched on in the initial post. Any of the 80s, 90s, 00s, and newer military lines would be worked in. EDIT 2: I would also throw in various book franchises too. Dale Brown's Dreamland, pilots, planes, and armored suits. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Rainbow Six, etc. Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp. Stephen Coonts' Jake Grafton. Dan Brown's Professor Robert Langdon. Clive Cussler's NUMA, etc. Mack Maloney's Wingman. Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne. Again, etc, etc, etc... EDIT 3: Tremors and Jurassic Park. Tremors could have some MIB type personnel looking into a sighting and covering it up. For Jurassic Park, plenty of room for the research scientists and the islands, with not much being leaked to the public. Probably falling under the Godzilla/King Kong people if there is any oversight. |

Not quite that many - but... GI Joe - good guys Basic 82-86 roster- leaner than most depictions Hawk is an LTC - works for Flagg, who was Joe Colton's XO I've got cool backstories for everyone that I need to post once I finish the customs. Adventure Team - non-profit group/think tank/conservationists/etc - run by Joe Colton Members include Jane Colton, Action Man, Bulletman, Steve Austin, Hank Parsons (The Rock from Journey 2 the Mysterious Island), Owen Grady (Jurassic World), Lara Croft, Tim Murphy (Jurassic Park), Layla Hasaan (Assassins Creed) and others Cobra - bad guys Basic 82-84 roster. More of an actual terrorist org with cultist tendencies. Really into MLMs/pyramid schemes and political graft CC is more like the "Reloaded" version - kind of a cult leader, but shrewd and charismatic. Suspect that he is secretly a politician, Hollywood star, or former military leader Destro is a straight up scumbag arms dealer - no honor, no moral code, no scruples Baroness is a spoiled rich kid who likes killing people Mindbender - he wears shirts in my 'verse (sorry, Sputnik) SGT Slaughter - was on the Joe team briefly until they found out he was a total fraud - no military service (washed out of boot camp), just a failed pro wrestler in deep debt. Cobra set him up with a fake identity to have him infiltrate the team, but Leatherneck recognized him and exposed his identity. "Combat" instructor for Cobra, despite being a total loser. Zartan - no nanites or superpowers, no ninja background, no siblings - just an Aussie actor/stuntman make-up artist with multiple personality disorder (Zaranna & Zandar are figments of his imagination) who experiments with holograms. Storm Shadow - not completely a bad guy, but not a good guy, either. Went so deep under cover to infiltrate the Yakuza & Cobra that he lost his humanity. Still trying to bring down the org from the inside, but doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. Firefly - not a ninja. Dreadnoks Less buffoonish than the comics/cartoons. Straight-up biker mercenaries/terrorists/white supremacists. The Foundation - Adventure Team's bad guys - Henry Wu (Jurassic Park/World) Michael Power (Atomic Man - disgruntled former Adventure Team member - enemy of Steve Austin) Arkady Zamatev (a mix of Col Zaroff from the Most Dangerous Game, Col Zamatev from Last of the Breed and Allan Quatermain) poacher, big game hunter Alekhin (mix of Alekhin from Last of the Breed and Ivan from Most Dangerous Game) - Siberian tracker -- rivals with Kwinn Kwinn (sometimes) Amanda Evert (Lara's nemesis) The Countess (Baroness knockoff) Major Bludd (he has beef with Colton's team - it's how he lost his eye) Random mercs Red Shadows Linked to the Foundation - with the Foundation being the "legit" org (though barely) Blood Skull - leader - similar to CC, but only interested in massing wealth/technology, not world domination Blitz - (mix of General Blitz, Black Major) Kraken (result of "venomization" experiments) Skeletron Red Shadow Troopers Red Jackal Red Laser Arashikage Clan - Assassins with ties to the Yakuza. Actual bad guys who purport to be honorable warriors, but are just a criminal org. Hard Master ordered Snake Eyes' family murdered when he refused to return to the clan after joining the Army. Hires out to Cobra, the Foundation, Red Shadows, & more. And many, many more.... I really need to post a thread with all this crap. So many WIPs and backstories. Nothing finished. |

Everbody everywhere. Nobody can be everywhere at once, so superhero sitings are still fairly uncommon. |

GI Joe is broken down into multiple sub-teams with specialized focus for the teams: The Adventure Team- Led by Joe Colton, they travel the world under the GI Joe banner but in a non-military role. Their goal is to research relics and strange phenomena. Acquire and secure targets before they can be taken by forces of evil. The Marauders-Sgt Slaughter's handpicked small attack team. They deploy behind enemy lines with little or no support. Their operations are clandestine in nature and still hold true to GI Joe's original design. GI Joe SIGMA- The public face of GI Joe. Scarlett leads this group as they make appearances around the United States, downplaying their military background while promoting their peacemaking. More along the lines of the original GI Joe cartoon stuff. The Night Force -Jokingly called the Ninja Force by many in GI Joe. They are the hostage rescue and extraction team led by Nunchuk and Jinx. They move fast and light, getting the victims out quickly and safely while avoiding prolonged enemy contact. The DEF or Codename: Anti-Venom- This group is the drug elimination specialists that operate to eliminate smugglers attempting to come into the country or take the fight to the growing operations and manufacturers. Red Zone is the team lead. The Dino Hunters-These guys were not assigned an official team designation but were sent to investigate the reports of disappearances around islands off of the coast of South America. They returned with stories of dinosaurs and mutants. Link and Rampage headed up this team and they have stuck together since that mission. Extremis- Snake Eyes, Flint, Beachhead, and Barrage. With Flint dead set on revenge for Lady Jaye, the other three men were assigned to keep him in check as they pursued the original Red Shadows faction. The Renegades - Mercer and Red Dog were handed the reigns of the group they were once a part of. They are focused on the rehab of former enemy soldiers and operatives. Their base of operation is The Slaughterhouse in the Rocky Mountains until the recruits can be trusted enough to bring to one of GI Joe's operating bases. The Tiger Force trains GI Joe soldiers on enemy tactics and weaponry. Lead by Wreckage and Skystriker, they use acquired enemy vehicles to train on sabotage, demolition, and commandeering. The International Action Force is lead by Big Ben and Red Star. This team consists of foreign born GI Joe operatives who operate around the world and can adapt to local custom easier. They also are the intermediaries when allied with foreign armies. The Extreme Environment Team is a larger team that is broken down into environment specific sub teams that lead the other GI Joe teams into those harsh conditions. The Desert Ops and Arctic Express live for their particular specialties and focus on making the team better in those situations. The Sky Patrol operates specialized aircraft and flight packs. The brother and sister duo of Barrel Roll and Bombstrike run this group with him in the air and she operates from a mobile battle bunker with her drones as her eye in the sky to pinpoint and direct attacks by the team. BF3k-Known only by their initials, they are the continuation of Battle Force 2000. They are weapon designers and testers. The current tech used daily by GI Joe was designed years ago by these engineers and gearheads. Hi-Tech is the team's contact. Duke is GI Joe's commanding officer after Hawk retired. Stalker leads the team's general population and training team. |

For me Tiger Force is the more covert version of Joe that cant be linked to the main organization. So all their vehicles and equipment are painted up Cobra or civilian stuff. Red Shadows lead by Baron Iron Blood. He's old European nobility bent on destroying democracy and bringing back noble rule. Also a germaphobe in a classist way wears either a white robe/kimono or white jumpsuit all the time. Wears a mask to filter the air breathed by common folk. |
