i had been thinking i'd buy one of the vintage batmobiles to use but they are pricey. i had a couple later versions ,but the 89 "IS" where my nostalgia starts and ends.

i thought i was going to win one of the 89 toy biz for .99 cents plus shipping, but got snipered by multiple bidders and it sold for about $20 shipped. that was still a good price, but it is what it is.

then after searching around i decided it just wasn't going to happen i then found a jada 89 batmobile listed as 1:16. it was very cheap, and i don't have it in hand (fingers crossed). it won't open or take a driver, but all the details look move accurate.

anyway does anyone have an 89 looking batmobile to use with 4" figures? stock or custom? diecast or plastic?

i don't have a batman custom yet 8-O but i guess i need to build one. recipes on a 89 batman would be great too.

The Kenner Batman Returns Batmissile is the best plastic toy version, IMHO.

The smaller version is here: http://www.actionfeatures.net/2013/06/t ... -dark.html

Larger batmissile version here: https://bravefortress.com/gallery/batma ... batmobile/

Tried to upload a 192K photo I took of mine, but the page says it's too large (!)

so you like the larger one for 4" figures or the factory batman figures?

i think i saw the toybiz was listed at 15+ inches . i see the smaller kenner is 12+ inches so one of your links says the batmissile is almost 50% bigger so 18" !!
small kenner https://toysack.toys/blogs/news/toysack ... -batmobile

i haven't found an exact length of the jada rc yet, but a different one on ebay says 11.5" so i hope good with 1:18.

I have one of the Hot Wheels diecast 1:18 '89 Batmobile. I know they are not cheap and not sure they fit figures, as I haven't opened it up. It has sliding cockpit and revolving machineguns.

Stock picture of it:

bbts lists it at 12.5". it is also the "batman returns" car like what you pictured. i can't find if the hotwheels 89 car is the same one. i did see some back and forth on amazon over 2003 or 2012 rerelease on one of them.

i put a modern joe next to a 11" dodge viper and am now hoping the rc is 11 1/2". though it doesn't work out to be 1:18 by the math i think it would be good enough for pics.

specs i found online L - conv. to 1:18 R
Length: ----------260.7 " -------------------14.4"
Width: ----------94.4" ----------------------5.2"
Height: ---------51.2 " ---------------------2.84"

no idea if that is height of the wing or the roof etc.

Briefly, the one you have linked is IMO the best one for 1:18.

-The Hot Wheels one is too small and can't fit figures.

-The Batmissile version's proportions are off to accommodate the gimmick. Main body is too narrow, fenders are too wide. Plus it was the only one close to scale with the larger Kenner figures, so too big for 1:18.

-The original 1989 Toy Biz Bat mobile is also a good size, its main draw backs being the lack of certain detailing and lack of canopy.

There is a thread around here somewhere for when the DC Multiverse 89 Batman figure came out where I posted some comparisons shots of the Batman figure with the Hot Wheels and the one you have linked above.
I also seem to recall Bindy using the 89 Toy Biz version, so there should be some shots of that floating around here somewhere too.

that makes me wish i got the toybiz. i'm not sure if i got bindy or bindy jr's batman, but i just dug him out from dragon rider duty to chop off his belt, arms ,and legs for my batman!

this pic of the kenner small one (originally posted by Gaigaan-Dnok) looks so good! no wonder they are so expensive now days compared to the toybiz.

i'm not able to go after a pricier option right now. i can't wait to see if this rc car will scratch the itch!

The 89 in Chief's photo looks like it's the Hot Wheels one.

Here is the old picture I took of the Multiverse Keaton figure with the Hot Wheels Batmobile.

i thought i read the hotwheels was 12.5" long, but it looks much smaller than the kenner small one that is supposed to be 12".

maybe multiple hotwheels versions i guess.

If you are referring to the BBTS listing saying it's 12.5" long, it also says it's 5" tall. I think those may be the box dimensions.

As far as I know, Mattel only made one "1:18" scale Keaton Batmobile, and then did a few repaints of that same mould.

ah thanks that makes a lot of sense. i guess i thought a toy specific company would have accurate specs on their site. i expect the wrong info on ebay and amazon.

thanks for all the info everyone!
