Even though it's short two figures, this wave is excellent. I got my shipment from Smalljoes Thursday and haven't put Torpedo down since. The Commander (though I'm not a fan of the outfit) is good fun and Rock N Roll has a great old school vibe to him. Torpedo This one is a gem, folks. Torpedo has an almost flawless range of motion, torso swivels forward and back quite a bit, elbows almost hit 90 degrees, good motion at the neck ball-joint, wide range of motion in the hips (he can sit) and the knees double back very nicely. All of this adds a great deal of dynamism when he's decked out in full diving gear. Torpedo is loaded with accessories (blackened knife, silenced pistol, speargun, airmask, backpack w/ 2 removable air tanks, 2 flippers), and they all work really well together. Because the flippers have a hole and a peg (so you can plug him into the stand with his flippers on) the flippers can be joined up and stuck on his backpack. I'm a big fan of figures with tons of accessories that can be carried around. Overall, Torpedo is one of the best of the 25th. I think he's on par with Snow Job, another figure that scored big points for accessories. A+ Battle Armor Cobra Commander I've never been a fan of this version of the Commander, but this rendition does address the scrawniness of the 1987 version. Instead of seeming small and oddly proportioned, this figure seems like it's a real battle suit. The dangling red holster is great, but it would have been cool if there was a sidearm for it. The accessories are really impressive. The larger backpack again solves one of the issues with the 87 version, and the pistol is nice, very Sunbow. Articulation is a bit limited. At the chest, the figure can tilt back but forward motion is impeded by sculpting. The elbows near 90 degrees, the lower portion of the knee joint is slightly ratcheted. The feet move well even though there's sculpting that would seem to block them. Overall, I like the figure quite a bit, but I'm not sure if its strengths overcome my attitudes toward the 87 sculpt (and the horrible DIC version of the character). A- Rock N Roll I always liked Rock N Roll as a character but he suffered from being a member of the class of 82. The second version was brilliant, and I hope Hasbro resurrects that version of the character, but for whatever reason, the 82 uniform is a bit more iconic. This figure (like Breaker) works really well, and would be an awesome addition if it weren't for its reuse of Duke's arms. These things are useless. Rock N Roll can still get into some cool poses, and his left arm is slightly more useful than his right arm for holding his massive machine gun. B+ (gets points for vibe over function) |

Your pictures are awesome. Hasbro should be paying you to sell these figures. I picked up Cobra Commander yesterday but haven't opened it yet cause, well, I'm not really sure I like the idea of a pretty impermeable foe. But without the helmet and other on I might keep him and use him as some sort of Viper. I dig the head under that helmet. Or I might use him to get me another Snow Job. Haven't decided yet. |
