Still sealed in a very nice box... not surprising it went high. |

Wow that is a lot of money. My cynical and suspicious side noticed that the price sticker was still a nice, pearly white when compared to the rest of the box. Dunno why but it seems odd that with everything else on that box looking weathered and discolored, the price sticker looks that good, seems like it should show more wear than just the rising that he mentions in the Q&A part. Even so, if it's truly MISB, that's a huge rise from the original price on it of $11.99. LOL I like the guy asking if he'd do a Buy It Now for $200.00! |

for the money...it about makes you want to try to reproduce it yourself...with today's technology, it doesn't seem that far of a stretch. I think you could also reproduce is the old attack gliders fairly easy. Although I know it's seriously frowned upon....but if I'm keeping it and not selling it, what's the prob? |

I'd buy a good repro version of the gliders, or the Cobra base. As long as it was marked as such. |

-- just a joke -- no harm meant -- i'm pretty sure we (parties involved) settled this a long time ago, and raised a toast or two over the issue down in GA -- so, if i've offended anyone, sorry -- just trying to draw some smiles -- |

I remember talking with a Hasbro executive in the early 90's at one of the first Conventions -- I'm pretty sure it was Vinnie D'Alleva -- and commenting on the "Cardboard Cobra Headquarters", and he quickly corrected me. "No, that Cobra Headquarters was made out of FOUR-COLOR ACTION CARDBOARD!!!" Every time I see something about this thing, I think of that line... Of course, I also sort of wish I'd kept mine, so I could sell it for some decent bucks. Doubt I'd get five grand for it, though. By the way, this isn't a record for a Joe item. Somebody sold a set of those never-released Ninja Commandos a couple of years back, and I think it hit fifty grand. The flip side to that is I think it was ultimately a shill bid or something. |

Dang, Thomas- You got rid of something Joe? I can't believe it! (gasp!) Seriously though, that is one BEAUTY of a rare toy. THAT is what should go for big bucks. Love the pics, the crisp mintiness, it's just made my day to gaze upon it. Beautiful, beautiful toy that deserves its rarity and awesomeness-aura. |

I don't think anyone legitimately shelled out 50 grand for a set of Ninja Commandos. Brian's toys couldn't sell a set for 10K and more have surfaced since then. There are some foreign items and some AFA items that have approached this sum. (for the missle set) But, this is an investor grade piece and the guys who collect that type of stuff usually don't bother with loose figures or the average collector forum. But, in the toy investor world, less than 6 grand is really just peanuts. |
