the club formerly known as master collector is doing the custom challenge -- here's the rules page: http://gijoeclub.com/custom_rules.cfm |

Interesting. Clearly the Club wants to promote the 25th-style figures, but I'm also pleased that their Convention Sets remain traditional-style. Lemme ask a question, just out of curiosity. I have two 25th style figures here. I can see they have leg screws, but there's no back screw, never mind that mid-torso articulation and a lack of waist articulation. How the HECK are you supposed to split that to disassemble a figure for customization with multiple parts, assuming that is one's intention!? And BTW, MasterCollector still exists as MasterCollector. It can be found at MasterCollector.Com (with a whole bunch of my toy reviews!). The G.I.Joe Collectors' Club and the Transformers Collectors' Club are operated by the fine people of MasterCollector under license from Hasbro. |

Wonder if they have to be GI Joe characters? |

-- actually, i was wondering the same thing. -- which made me then wonder if this was a thinly-veiled disguise for hasbro sussing some new characters out of the molds they currently have. -- but i'm cynical like that. -- you gonna enter something? |

I think I shall, at least my 'kiddie costume' Fast Draw and the Wild Bill I sent Mysterious Stranger for Secret Santa. Actually, since that's technically not mine any more -- MS, do you mind that I send the pics from that Wild Bill in? |

Maybe. I don't really customize Joes for the most part, so that's why I'm wondering if it's even worth my time. And yeah, I get the feeling Hasbro's doing that too. |

I HOPE that's what hasbro is doing...I look at some of the customs here on the site (or in the critiques forum) and I'd LOVE to be able to buy them at retail. Rip us off, Hasbro, I'm begging you. |

I am too. And Hasbro's got nothing to lose by sponsoring this. They get free designs of new figures and we buy more 25th figures to smack with a hammer and paint. My only question is, how will they be ablt to determine that a figures is 80% 25th Anniversay parts!? |

Mike -- i couldn't find anything about having to make a Joe character vs. an expanded world, original, or etc. type custom -- you find anything? |

I guess I'm over looking or not understanding... are they wanting all new characters with no remake of originals and no "copyright" identities? No Seven Segal as a G.I.Joe member or anything like that right? I may not have a chance to do anything for this anyway, but I was just wondering. |

I haven't found anything specific as to what they are looking for as to what kind of characters they make, but I'm thinking they are looking for 25th Anniversary versions of established characters. If you make a new character up there could be legal issues over ownership and rights, but I guess the "All entries become property of..." disclaimer at the end covers that. I have three figures that I'm working on, and they're all characters that have been around. |

Psh... I'm out then. I 've got no interest in customizing Joe characters. Though I am tempted to do Major Bludd, just to show Hasbro what a good one should look like. |

Actually, according to what I was told, Fun Publications is over several things. Those include, the GIJoeClub, The Transformers Club, and the MasterCollector ads. From Fun Publications perspective, MasterCollector doesn't have anything to do with the Joe or TF Club. |
