Anyone else planning on buying an extra one of these to paint black, slap some Cobra logos on and call a Stinger so your Stinger Driver has something to drive?

Depends on how big it is. It looks like a slightly different mold, so I'm hoping that the 25A figs actually fit inside. If that's the case, I'll be buying a few. If it's just a modded version of the original (which was a tight fit for regular Joes), then I'll pass.

After Hasbro made a 25th Wild Weasel, I've held off on making any classic character or vehicle customs. It seems like they're covering everything, and they'll no doubt get some mileage from that VAMP mold, including repaints/mods to make other vehicles like the Stinger.

I plan on dipping one in some black RIT dye to use as a Cobra VAMP which is a vehicle I've long desired.

But I'd bet real money we'll see a Stinger before 2008 is out.

Yeah, this sounds like a waste of time and paint when it's a foregone conclusion Hasbro will do this for us. The brown VAMP II is more of a maybe, but only because the movie might hit before then.

I sort of planned on getting more than one VAMP just because it was a fun little vehicle back in it's day so it would be nice to have a few for my Joes. I guess if Hasbro doesn't release a Stinger any time soon I'd paint some up for Cobra but I've just got this sort of feeling that maybe we will see the Stinger around Con time or something.

Where might one find pictures of this? If it will accommodate traditional-style 3-3/4" figures, or better still is based almost entirely on the original molds, I might get one.

And I would welcome a Cobra Stinger as such, since in an apparently extremely careless moment I sold my last one a number of years ago.

Idiot... :-/

Nice, very nice! :-D Closer to the original than we've seen in a few years, but with some interesting enhancements like the cable to the rear guns and the removable shovel on the hood. Let's hope the seating will still accommodate traditional-style Joes without them having to stretch to reach the steering wheel. :shifty: ;-)

If so, they want to redo the missiles, give it a roof and doors, and turn it into a Cobra Stinger at some point, I'd consider that a reasonable replacement for my lost originals (which I still wouldn't mind having at least ONE of someday...!)

Something I was considering doing, especially if they do make a Stinger for Cobra. I have the original MSV set, and its nice to have one plain Cobra VAMP just for something different than all the Stingers.
