We throw the term pegwarmer around a lot these days. I didn't pay too much attention to the state of the pegs back in the day, but for those who did, who were the big stinkers back then? Surely not every figure sold like wildfire. Im very curious to see who the big warmers were from each year's assortment starting with '82.

Crystal Ball until Nova developed his odd obsession with the boa wearing, mind reading, tight britches wearin' man-beast.

Great topic!
Off the top of my head ( I can't remember the 82-83 figures on shelves)
this is what I remember always seeing in no particular order:
tele viper
quick kick
zarana
mainframe
crystal ball
raptor
python patrol tele viper
scrap iron
ripper
dr. mindbender
monkeywrench
any ninja force (except storm shadow)
eco warriors ( these were always in abundance)
astro viper
budo
charbroil
road pig
big boa
lightfoot
hydro vipers
dee jay
downtown
grid iron
saw vipers
sonic fighters in abundance

that's my memories from growing up in AZ, i'm sure others will vary.

Two names pop right away: Dee Jay and Lightfoot.

Earlier, I remember a few Voltron figures that never seemed to move.
The evil lady from the Bionic Six seemed to have warmed a few peg too :shifty:

between 82-86, I really don't remember any one figure warming pegs... I seem to recall being able to buy pretty much whoever I wanted every single time I walked into a toy store. Of course, Joe displays back then were the size of Wal-Mart's entire action figure aisle, so that probably had something to do with it. The only figures I could never find were 85 Snake Eyes and 84 Storm Shadow. I saw Stormy quite a bit in 84 when he first came out, but after he became more and more prominent in the comic and the toon came out in 85, he disappeared. I didn't see him again until around Christmas of 86, right before he would be taken off the shelves forever. Luckily, I found him along with the first 85 Snake Eyes I ever saw, so I snagged both of them right then and there. Oh, the adventures we had...

Crystal Ball was the first pegwarmer I ever remember. I'd go to BEST, and find pegs of nothing but Crystal Ball, who I liked, by the way.

I vividly remember wanting to buy Destro, but only finding Gung Ho everywhere.
I'd say him, and the Tele-Viper were peg warmers when I was a kid. I also remember the Tele Vipers being in abundance.

Baroness. I remember moving to College Station, Texas in 1986... and the local KB type toy store had a whole wall of her. Later, it seemed to be Crystal Ball. That's about it for me.

PS The same store in TX also had about 30 blue SNAKE armours. I only bought one. Color me stupid.

Gung Ho, Televipers and Bazooka. I remember about 30 pegs of Televipers and Bazooka in a drugstore once. Also Crimson Guards... I mean who wants a badguy in bright red :shifty:

Baroness was everywhere but faded soon after the next years batch came out. I don't remember another peg warner until Jinx and Law & Order. Those two were everywhere for a long time. Then Spearhead & Max seemed to languish on shelves for a whole year. Fast foward several years and I don't even think discount stores could get rid of Battle Corps Outback. I remember finding him in regular stock in 1999.

Who I remember:
• Crystal Ball (into the 90s. I once found a shipping box that Wal-mart had used to just pile full of CB's with a price tag of 80 cents. They had the box for 3 years.

• Battle Armor Cobra Commander – from 87. He was neat when I first got him, but I remember wishing I'd bought every one else first, since I could get BACC anytime.

• Star Brigade – Any of em, but Robo JOE especially.

• Tele-Viper for sure – remember seeing him everywhere. Again an echo of BACC.

Snake Eyes 1985 is a figure that I've never saw in the stores.

I sure remember seeing a lot of Doctor Mindbender, Zarana and Cystral Ball.

You know I have been thinking on this and I honestly don't remember ever having a problem finding a figure beside 1985 Snake Eyes V2. All the rest seemed to be readly availabe for the two years they were out. I would go to the store rather randomly and their they were.

The only times I ever rember things lingering were the times between releases (in other words right after the newest release had hit the shelf but the older ones were still there). The few I remember were Voltar, Crystal Ball, Vipers (yes Vipers), Alpine, Blowtorch, Alley Viper, and I am sure there were others that I am just not remembering.

Later years I remember the line ending and the Shadow Ninjas hitting the clearence shelf along with the clunkier Star Brigade. I believe the only one I found past that was in Big Lots, It was tracker and I actually regret not picking him up then.

I remember Snow Job sitting on the shelf for a while. Main reason I remeber is that mine was stolen by a cousin and I was able to get a replacement long after Snow Job came out. Oh and Barbecue and Spirit.

As someone else said the SNAKE armour, both blue and white verstions. I bought my second when after a few weeks of no new stuff I decided on getting a blue SNAKE, only to open him in the car and it was just the white SNAKE armour inside the box!!! I was mad and mom even took me back in and to get a new one only to get another white SNAKE armour. So my brother got some blue spray paint and painted it up for me.

I also remember Jinx, Fast Draw, Chuckles, and Falcon being peg warmers. Crystal Ball was some but not as much as the others.

The Eco Force and DEF figures were peg warmers for a long time and the Street Fighter figures.
