I wonder what LBC's pretty much everyone has in their collections, or what LBC's you think everyone should have.

Incidentally, I'm ashamed to admit that I don't actually know what LBC stands for, though I've always assumed it was Lazy Butt Customs... Someone bring me in from the dark and tell me, please.

These are the ones that come to mind for me:
01. '82 Snake-Eyes head and chest with '85 everything else.
02. '89 Deep Six head/Topside chest or '84 DS head/Cutter chest with Shipwreck or Cutter legs
03. '86 Lowlight head on '89 Lowlight body
04. Sonya Blade head on '98? Volga/Diana body

What about you?

I've always heard it's Lazy Bastard Custom

I'm the King of the LBCs, so I know about these. They're really the only customs I "make" :shifty:

- comic pack Dragonsky head on the convention Dragonsky body
- Grunt '91 body with Drop Zone's head
- Drop Zone body with '91 Grunt's head
- unmasked Big Boa: Effects head on Boa's body
- Cross Country v2 w/ v1 arms
- Scoop's head on any Crimson Guard body (from the Operation Dragonfire cartoon)
- Payload body with Space Shot's head

I have plenty more, but most are used to make different or new characters like:
Kamakura = Coil Trooper head on Storm Shadow v16 Ninja Strike 6-pack body (sans Cobra logo)
Cobra Mortal = CP #24 Destro head on Imperial CC body

LBC was termed by Evilface...http://evilface.com/lazycustomaward.htm ...It started out as being a term for a simple parts swap, paintless custom... As customizing has evolved it seems to have taken a different meaning...sometimes it refers to a custom that while it uses some more advanced techniques, still remains playable..

Can't say I've ever seen anybody make your #1.
# 2 is pretty common...I think multiple head swaps with just a Shipwreck body to make a Flagg crew isn't all that unheard of either.

#3...I've seen more people go for the Dino Hunter's Lowlight head on V2 Lowlight body.

Another common one I've seen is the "Tan Breaker", and "Tan Hawk" made out of parts from tan clutches and Grunts...with a bit more work it's rather easy to come up with the other 1st joes in tan unis.

I did a #2 with '89 D6 head, Shipwreck torso & legs, Cutter arms
Yep I did a tan Breaker by just switching out the head from tan Grunt. I'm having a heck of a time trying to find some tan Clutch's arms though.

02. I really like this idea. If I find the appropriate parts, I think I'll build a Deep Six that will finally be free of a diving suit.
03. My LBC is the Dino Hunters Lowlight head on the '91 Lowlight body, because Lowlight has been and will always be a blonde.

This one is so easy I could ever bring myself to submit it because it doesn't seem like enough work to count as a true custom.

Take the blue 25th battle helmet Cobra Commander.

Take this cape from the GI Joe vs Cobra Dr Mindbender figure

Image

Cut the peg off the cape since that's easier than drilling a hole in Cobra Commander. Place the cape on Cobra Commander's shoulders, and boom Cobra Commander with cape like in the animated movie.

(rather shocked Hasbro hasn't done this already given how they love releasing the Cobra Commander mold again and again)

On the newer end of things, replacing the arms on the JvC Tomax and Xamot with the arms from the DTC crimson guard makes the figures about a thousand times better. You can do it with the Claws Commander, too, but the reds don't match as well as with T & X.

I've LBC'd the hell out of the RAHC Duke/Leatherneck torso, I think I'm up to 15 different troopers at this point. It's just an excellent body armor torso.

My first custom was an episode 1 Anakin with a vest and a random helmet to make a disguise.

I made a small team of commandos using the comic pack Snake Eyes bodies
with the following heads: Flash, Short Fuse V1 and Comic pack, Breaker, Hawk (comic pack), Stalker (comic pack), Firefly (comic pack)

My favorite common LBC: VvV Comic Duke head on V1 body (with maybe a little paint on the arms to match skintone).

My favorite not-so-common LBC: DTC Hawk head on '97 body. This is one of my all time favorite figures, custom or retail, the colors match so great.

I have been putting different heads and arms on the Monkeywrench v1 torso.

I take the various waists and legs from Ripper v1, Torch v1, and Buzzer v1 and make different combos.

Or I just put Monkeywrench v1 lower legs on any of the three above's upper legs.

I also have done the same thing with the Ripper and Buzzer Funskool and Comic Pack (ARAH) versions.

Now this is a thread after my own heart. For a long while, I used to hoard every NF Repeater torso I came across. That torso is probably one of the most versitile and practical parts in the entire line for me, along with the green 2000 Duke/Leatherneck torso. I can mix-and-match legs and arms all day to create uniform looking squads. Psyche-Out legs are also really handy for LBC's. I've been trying to hoard as many Desert Patrol Stalker's and Gung-Ho's, but it's been a hard chore. Dial-Tone's torso with short sleeves gives a good base for an LBC that puts a new spin on potential custom character. Chapmei heads offer good LBC potential, too. I have a few Cutter's with swapped Chapmei heads for naval support. Actually, most of the parts for Cutter, Shipwreck, Topside are good for support fodder; it's too bad that we never got a naval officer in khaki's, though.

I've never had a Buzzer to test with, but does his torso match with ver1 Duke arms?
