Hey all.
Reading some of the posts brings up the love/hate relationship the community have with the Official Collectors Club. I figured I'd start two threads, and really try to keep in productive, mature and hopefully helpful to the Club, should they read this. If you have some postive that you truly believe the club does well, chime in and share your thoughts.

I'll start.

For the most part, I am really happy with the exclusives the club puts out. Though errors happen from time to time, overall they have gotten quite creative with available tooling and have released some awesome additions to my collection.

The exclusive figures have been great.

The only con I've attended was in New Orleans. Events started when they said they would and the floor was well laid out.

Having a Kids Only area at the cons is a great idea.

The exclusive figures and vehicles, for the most part, have been well done. From a finished product stand point I have no complaints.

Customer service. Any time I've ever had an issue they've responded and corrected the problem quickly and always above my expectations.

The convention seminars and contests are run fairly well. Things start roughly when they should. I always like the Franken Joe contests because we see more customizer participation.

Feedback. This is a difficult one so I'm putting it in both places as both a pro and a con. Sometimes it seems like they do listen and make changes that we ask for and sometimes we sit here and complain about the same problems year after year. I just don't know.

The exclusives are nice. I can't say I've been disappointed in any item I paid for. I enjoy both the celebrity guests & the seminars.

* yes, the club offerings are great. also allowing an outlet for us collectors who still love the RAH style figures.

* I have to admit, dispite the flaws, the Joe convention is one of the best convention venues ive been to. Large enough to have fun, but still small enough to not get lost in the mix like San Diego comic con or Wizardworld.

* I have never seen a collection of staff so friendly! (Except for that onerey person I ran into last year)

*I like the venues, last year was excellent

* I do like that, they, on occasion, DO listen to te collectors. The Adventure Team set seems to be directly seeded by a fan.

Thought of one:

Making something for everyone. Last year there were ARAH, new sculpt, 12", and Sigma 6 exclusives. Add the leftover Pimp Daddy Destro figures and you even had a 25A exclusive. People have their preferences, it is nice to think that everyone is cattered to at least somewhat.

* The quality of their exclusives. The Collectors' Club exclusive figures have, far and away, been some of my favorite G.I. Joe toys over the past 5 years. I am continually impressed by the new stuff they can do with figures that are essentially twenty years old.

* The fact that they stick to the vintage style. I have nothing against new sculpt or Anniversary stuff, but the vintage Real American Hero stuff is still my first and biggest love, so I'm thrilled that we still have an outlet for those figures.

* Customer Service. I agree that the service employees that work for the Collectors' Club over the phone are terrific. They are quick to tackle problems and always manage to find acceptable solutions.

* A direct interaction with Collectors' Club reps on their message boards, at least until recently. In the past couple of months Lanny's presence on the GIJCC forums has been noticably absent (but I'm sure he's busy with Botcon and JoeCon prep) but when he is active, being able to interface and interact directly with Club reps is a very nice bonus.

The exclusive items are excellent. The only thing I didn't like was the clear Zartan. Everthing else from membership figures, convention items and club exclusives as been top notch.

Convention seminars - Usually quite good and informative.

Telephone customer service reps - Always plesant and prompt.

a few more

online customer service.

not only are they friendly, but prompt.

I inquired about my free club figure, considering that two years running they sent me the wrong figure. not only did they respond within a few hours, but both the customer service and Brian himself emailed me to assure me I would be getting the cobra commander figure.

Friendly people:

for all the negativity, brian and crew really are nice people. Last year they even hung out with us awhile during the Crappy Figure Brigade meeting. And I really appreciate his passion and love for collecting G.i.joe, as opposed to some coporate guy running the Club.

For all my hatred of Brian and his little club, I will admit that they're not PURE evil.

What Master Collector does right: A short list by Viperlord

1. Some of their figures are pretty cool. Not all though.
2. They give the Joecustoms community a reason and place to get together once a year.

And that's about it.

Because it was mentioned as a negative in the other thread I thought it was worth posting here. This year the club has made the Costumes a sort of contest. Not quite on par with the other ones but still a step in the right direction. And remember kids, "acclamation" means whatever Brian hears.
