Hey I want to give props where props are due, I just finished reading the latest MC newsletter which contains a review of Major Bludd written by Trekker. Dude, I had no idea that the 1994 Major Blood has that spike sticking out from his elbow. I've owned several 94 Major Bludd's and never noticed! That almost redeems him for wearing a bright red cod piece. -CJack |

You never played with him, did you? Can't blame you, or anyone, he dressed in pansy purple and (yes) he had a red codpiece... Same reason I was embarrassed for Battle Corps Metalhead... why oh why was he wearing pink? But Bludd joined my Cobra forces back in 94, when I was still a doofy enough kid to play with my toys, and he replaced Super Sonic "Shoot me once and I blow *everyone* up!" Bludd in my collection. I loved the details on the eye-patch, and the elbow spike made him easily the most underhanded, sneaky s.o.b. in Cobra's employ! I remember when I first got onto the internet, people used the spike as further proof that Major Bludd's are was robotic, but with the sheath that was molded obviously above his sleeve on the toy, it was just a funny (and troublesome) coincidence. The laughable insistence by some that it was actually a squared off "stick" (i.e. exactly the way the toy was sculpted) as opposed to a spike or pointed object just left me baffled in the early days. Thank Goodness the community has grown up since then! |

Now that I think about it, it makes more sense that it *not* be pointed. It's still just as dangerous, in that a squared-off pole being shoved thru your chest by the full weight of a full-grown man is gonna kill ya; but it also has more impact weight as a side-on hitting baton than something pointed would have. Additionally, he's less likely to wound himself with a non-pointy baton. |

I'm still sad that we didn't get the 94 Bludd in the Con set 2 years ago. A quick repaint and he'd have been awesome. Instead we got a half assed frankenstein in dominatrix boots. And to add insult to injury they used the 94 head! BOOO!!! |

I mean, it's *called* a spike, not a "ramming stick". I expect a spike to, I dunno, have a spikey kinda shape to it. As for wounding himself, it's physically impossible from the placement of the spike. When his arm is straight, the spike rests in a holster attached to his arm, which also acts as a buffer between his forearm and the piece of steel. Other than that, the only way he could impale himself on the spike would be if he twisted his lower body sideways... |

Attempting to come up with more words that rhyme with uzi, Bludd stabs himself in the knee. |

Yeah, that spike is pretty well hidden, concealed in a bit of a slot in the lower forearm, although technically attached to the swivel arm piece, which means that Hasbro had to make a NEW swivel-elbow piece, something VERY unusual for them to do. And it does sort of add to the controversy of the precise nature of Bludd's right arm, especially since his hand is a normal flesh-tone in this particular version. As for the bright red codpiece -- which is more like bright red trunks, almost some sort of padded speedo... ye gods, was ol' Sebastian having incontinence problems there for a while!? No wonder the arm spike didn't get much attention. |
