One of the best things about the JOE community is hearing the different interpretations different collectors have for characters and vehicles. I figured I'd start up a few threads from time to time based on individual characters and we can all post what we use a particular item as.

I'll start with Chuckles.

When '87 hit, I was turned off to A LOT of the single card offerings. Some like Crystal Ball & Raptor I didnt see much use for, and others like Gung Ho looked great, but I didnt see much action use for him in my battles. I eventually picked them all up, but Chuckles as the last one to get home.

I immediately liked Chuckles holster and pistol, and as time moved on I saw him as the head of Joe urban operations. My urban squad consists of Chuckles, Shockwave 1988, Shockwave 1992 (as a different character), Sure Fire (Green), Mutt 1992, Mace, Bullhorn, Lowlight 2002, and an army of blue version Sure Fires as basic SWAT members.

Shockwave 88 leads the 'Blueshirts' with Shockwave 1992 as the 2nd in command. Lowlight acts as a sniper of course, and Mutt remains as a k-9 officer. Mace, Chuckles and Bullhorn stay back and direct from behind the lines.

I have a cool little clip of SWAT vest that came with some Chap Mei figure that I put on Chuckles and that along with an m-16 make him look very cool in an urban dio.

What do you think of Chuckles and how does he fit into your Joeverse?

I used him as an informant more than a member of the team.
The kind of guy that used to be mixed up with the underworld but now he just owns a car wash or something, while still knowing what's going on....

I would like to see a picture of this cause it does sound awesome.

As far as my feelings on Chuckles are concerned......

Well, for the longest time I did no tlike him a bit. Then I saw potential to use him as a liason from the CIA. Kind of a spook type character. I don't have a decent representation of him but I would kill to have one in the 25th line.

Ill see about putting a pic up.

I think a 25th version of Chuckles would be pretty easy to do.

When I was a kid Chuckles was one of my favorite Joes. I remember for a long time the four Joes I played with was the Steel Brigade, Storm Shadow v.2, Shockwave, and Chuckles. I think it was the pistol and holster that make me like his so much.

I don't really have a place for him anymore but I would love a 25A version. There are some great customs of him already and Hasbro could easily copy one of those to give us one.

As a Vice cop that works with Shockwave and the DEF against the Headhunters and 'Noks.

Right now he's riding in the 21st Huey.

I break my Joe forces down fairly specifically, in fact most of how things work are totally different then anything in the cartoon or comic.

My Chuckles is very similar to his depiction in the old Special Missions books. He's a spook and a total badass. He is often taken into or pulled out of hot situations in foreign lands by a team of Joes. So essentially he is the mission. He's the guy that goes and talks to the locals about cooking up a rebellion or getting support for a joe team who needs o get around the area undetected. He's a smooth character that could get Faceman to loan him money. And a strong arm field interrogator that can make just about anyone spill their guts. All around a pretty handy guy for things other then huge firefights.

He has been rumored to throw missiles at tanks.

He does strictly undercover work. Not deep cover stuff, that's Mace's and uh, Face's, specialty. Chuckles works with the DEF to the extent they bring down the Cobra cells operating in the US and the 3rd parties that help them. Because he's always on the fringe of the activities he isn't considered a player by anyone that would be looking to spot him. Plus he's been doing it so long his covers always check out.

Like Zombie Guide said, when he goes in for the big bust he wears the vest and I put a Shockwave v.2 helmet on him to disguise his face. He's smart, fast on his feet, and knows the bad guys better then they know themselves.

Chuckles is one of my favorite Joes and has been since as far back as I can remember.

In my 'verse he's only a field operative for short stints, he'll go in undercover for little while to get a feel for the conditions/lifestyle of a place, the people around him there, and how things work, and then he brings his notes back to HQ and then Lady Jaye and the intel Joes come up with a plan to send GIJoe in to get a job done. At that point he's an advisor for the mission, he'll do briefings or make recommendations for a course of action once a op team of Joes is organized. He may even go back with them if he believes the best way for him to be an advisor is to handle it from the thick of things. That's pretty much how he was used everytime he showed up in Special Missions and that was the way he best fit into the roster IMO.

He's not military nor law enforcement. He's more of a civilian who works for DOD that they need for GIJoe because he has been everywhere and he knows people all over the world than he can call up as contact people for the mission, wherever it is. He's fluent in 6 languages and he can recite the intel books the Joe team has gathered over the years on Cobra and the Iron Grenadiers. Yes, he carries a pistol and he will shoot if necessary but he's better at going into dangerous places and never even having an eyebrow raised at him from a local, let alone anyone needing to raise a gun to him.

Chuckles is my "Magnum PI" He is like a private investigator for the Joes that does work on the side. Say, finding out what is going on in Springfield....stuff like that.

Chuckles is my man in the field. He has ties to the CIA, NSA, MI-6, Israeli intelligence, etc. He's the guy that lives and breathes the local lifestyle. When the Joes have a mission in say Moldavia, Chuckles goes in ahead of time and gets the lay of the land. When the team arrives he gives them all the intel and recon they'll need and can also get whatever equipment the team wasn't able to get. He's a lot like Bruce Campbell's character in Burn Notice only a lot darker and shadier.

I know most people like to use Chuckles in the role of a CIA, FBI, etc agent like in "The Kingdom", but in my Joeverse he does not leave the US. He was initially in command of the Joe urban team formed to work primarily in New York City. The job was to uncover evidence that Extensive Enterprises works for Cobra, undermine Crimson Guard actives, uncover Cobra recruitment centers, and bring down the Headman. However, after a blown operation two Joes went missing and one was killed in action. Now Chuckles has been sent undercover to find the missing Joes. Shockwave is his replacement as head of the urban team.

He's a secret agent man. They've given him a number, and taken away his name.

He's an undercover guy with a past so secret that the Joes don't know for sure if they can trust him. . .

Chuckles: Undercover operations team attached to the PITT.This team is lead By Lady Jaye (BC characters don't die in my universe) and consists of Sam "Splinter Cell" Fisher (yeah I know I'm a dork), Agent Faces and Mace. Chuckles, Lady Jaye and Sam are all handle ex-filtration and processing of those sent into deep cover operations. They also handle interrogations with Bull horn and Psych out.

Chuckles is the guy sitting at the table across the restaurant, jogging in the park and trying on pants in the fitting room next to you. Just like the Crimson Guardsmen he look innocuous and could fit in anywhere. He usually doesn't throw anti-tanks rounds around. He can be deadly and if Spirit or Duke would talk about it they would prove it. He also trains with all the CIA gadgets he could get his hands on.The part that doesn't get mentioned in his dependability. He is a results oriented person who always does what he sets out to do.

Steve
