I don't remember seeing this posted so I thought that I should bring it up. I just picked up the new Ranking Officers 3 pack yesterday and noticed that they refer to Hawk as "General". While in fact he was prometed to that rank a little later in the comic book series, the actual rank on his uniform is that of a full bird colonel. Somewhere some how someone screwed up. And I never figured out why they would have Duke and Grunt ? in a offecers line up.

I don't think that's meant to be a colonel insignia. If what you're talking about is what I'm thinking its just Duke's flight wings painted gold.

As the packaging indicates, this is meant to show a "progression" of ranks, not just "Senior Officers". Grunt is the...well... grunt. Duke is the middle man, and Hawk is the Senior Officer.

Same as the COBRA Trooper/Officer/Commander and the Crimson Guard/Officer/Commander.

No I'm not talking about the jump wings on his shirt. I'm talking about the eagle on his helment. The eagle is the insignia of a full bird conolel. while stars are the insigina of generals. I uerstand the "thought" on the ranking officers line, but as it stands the name is miss leading. Hawk, Ace, Doc. Those would be ranking officers.

The sets were originally supposed to be "Evolution Sets" which is how the figures are laid out, but since Star Wars already has "Evolutions" in their line, Hasbro had to change the name of the Joe packs. Easier to change the names than it is the figure layout.
