i wonder when i go out looking for the 25th line if there is a kid who is into gi joe 25th action figures. not to get politcal, but many parents today don't allow their kids to play with toys who have guns. therefore, i don't think gi joe is popular with the young kids today. any thoughts. eh |

its a mixed bag. yes A lot of parents are shying away from military toys. but there are still the Fathers who buy their children tohe toys they grew up with. however, Most children I noticed are attracted to toys that either have movies or cartoons attached to them. My son in particular likes playing with his Star Wars figures much more than the joes, since he can relate to the movies, and recently has gone ga-ga for the indiana jones figures. but doesnt play too much with his justice league figures, now that the show if off the air, and only plays with the joes when i play wirth mine. |

I can't say if kids specifically like the 25th Joes. Seems to me kids don't collect toys or get hooked on specific lines the way we did as kids. As a kid, I had a Joe collection, a MASK collection, a lego collection, but nowadays, I think kids just buy random crap--whatever interests them at the moment. I know I've mentioned this on these forums before, but I used to do residential carpet cleaning for a living. I got to look under a lot of kids' beds and in kids' closets and honestly, I did not see a lot of toys. I remember one kid that had an absolutely enormous Bionicle collection. Took up half a basement. Another had quite a few SW, mostly clones from what I could tell. But out of the two years I was at that job, I NEVER saw a Joe collection beyond a couple of random Spytroops. The average kid these days does not play with toys the way we did (and still do). Kinda sad. I know a lot of people like to blame video games as the cause, but that's simply not the case. After 2 years of cleaning houses, typically four to six houses a day, I didn't see many game consoles either. True, game consoles were not as few and far between as toy collections, but it wasn't like every kid has one either. From mutlimillion dollars homes to hovels in the ghetto, kids just don't play with toys that much anymore. Maybe they just play soccer and crap now. |

I know in my area, kid's don't really seem to be into Joe's. I have found every figure released so far and have been able to get my army builders with no problem. Up until a few weeks ago, I would be the only person in the action figure aisles, but then I saw 2 more adult collectores at WM & TRU(both were military guys. One Air Force other Army). I live in a military town, where we have 1 Army Post & 2 Air Force Base's, so the military makes up a good portion of the population and I have heard some parents over the years, say they won't buy kids any Military toys or guns. Kids are into action figures, as I regularly see kids with Star Wars, Power Randers, Super Hero's, Wrestling fig's, and those Corps figures and kids would just bypass the Joe's. Just this past Friday, a local WM put out the wave 7/8 waves and some kids were there with their mom. They saw the Joe's, but weren't interested, as they wanted toy guns(which mom was happily encouraging them to get). Can't really find a specific reason of why kids aren't into Joe's. My own 2 sons aren't really into them. They will play with the ones I have, but when I ask if they want me to buy them their own, they say no. They would rather me give them the money and let them go pick something out, themselves. |

Very few from what I can tell. I'd say judging my area, 85% - 90% is adult collectors (with 55% being scalpers). When there's more than 4 shipments and a decent amount in each shipment, figures start to just sit on the shelf. Working at KB, I can 100% say that there's only been a total of 6 kids that's come in and wanted G.I.Joe figures. All the rest have been adults. When I'm not there, everyone else keeps an eye on certain items I ask about, so I do know who buys what. I'm pretty much incharge of stock so I tend to keep up with everything. But yeah, all it requires is a decent amount of each wave put out there and everyone interested will have all they want. But then scalpers will stop buying and sticking them on Ebay if that happened. Then I guess there would be less figures sold and it wouldn't appear "as popular". While the figures are still "in demand" they stay "popular". I just wish they'd hurry up and figure a happy medium. |

I have to honestly say the only Figures I have seen kids pick up lately is Star Wars. They are passing up Indy as well (But I saw one kid pick up an Indy fig but that has been it so far, the kid did mention having watched Raders the nigh before with his dad to the mom). But Like I said I haven't seen kids pick up ANYTHING else, at all. |

my son and daughter like the joes but don't buy any just what I have given them. MY daughter watches the cartoons though and is interested pretty much. Toy wise I see lotsa kids checkin out star wars pretty much and some ben 10. My son likes to get the ben 10 and pokemon stuff and my daughter is into littlest pet shops. |

I can't think of one single solitary action figure line since the original He-Man cartoon that's been popular with kids that didn't have a media tie-in of some sort. |

No. I don't see how they could ever like them when they're still incredibly difficult to find around here. Though when they are on the shelves, I've only seen one kid look at them and his father said "these aren't how I remember them" and they kept on walking. I see kids buying Star Wars toys and parents/grandparents buying Star Wars toys for them for gifts. |

Well, I guess I can really only speak for my kid because locally, we really can't go into a store and see them on shelves. I don't often make the trek to the nearest place that carries them because it's 30 minutes away. Anyway, my kiddo loves them. They're always strewn about the living room...the entertainment center is usually Joe base and the Cobras get the coffee table. lol. He collects Joes (including Sigmas), legos, and Transformers. I'm happy keeping it to those because space (and money) is limited. He'd love some SW figs and maybe eventually he'll have some. Toy gun issues? Nah. I grew up playing guns and playing with figures with guns, and I turned out a peace-loving functional adult. As far as other toys...well, we don't have any kind of game console. He reads a TON. He picked up Prince Caspian the other day from the bookshelf and read it in less than 2 days...he's 8. He's also into science, so he's got a lot of science based "toys" and is always doing experiments with stuff around the house. I agree...someone said about all kids do is soccer/sports anymore. Kiddo plays baseball and bowls, and he seems to have a knack for hitting a golf ball...but I refuse to let him make any one sport a lifestyle. He's got to be a kid first...if he's really into it later, well, we'll see. |

Hubby was never a kid, it seems (and yes, he was a soccer kid) and I played with my brother's Joes till I was in high school LOL! Kids grow up fast enough...last thing we need is more stressed out mini-adults running around. |

I can dig that, mine are all girls and feel they are "too old" to regularly buy toys (although after watching raiders my youngest asked for Indy and the horse). Oddly my middle is becomeing that "Stressed out mini-adult" all on her own. We have always encouraged her to be a kid first, but we had an "incedent" where she started crying over the stresses of school, even though we have never been the type to force that kind of stress (A hard balance to encourage good grades while NOT encourageing ulsuers). Anyway I guess I just wanted to warn of the foibles of kids trying to grow themselves up before they are ready (not sure why, but been through it one other time and definiatly is the case). |

These kids today. In my day, we had to walk up the street backwards in our underoos to buy GI Joes. Seriously, I saw a kid diving through the racks looking for his favorite GI Joe not long ago, his Grandma was holding a couple in reserve. He was pretty excited. I'm sure they're getting into kids' hands. |
