Comic Book Resources has an interview with their new Senior Editor Andy Schmidt who will be running the Joe franchise for them. He sounds really excited and I'm glad to see they got some top talent to run the show. And the confirmation of Larry Hama's participation is just the icing on the cake.

OK, I'll bite. What'd he do to Quasar?

I do like very much that he realizes that the movie universe is its own continuity. I remember expounding on this at length with Batman Begins, how the nature of a movie, or even a movie series, is far different from an ongoing periodical. So it's nice to see that the comics of the movie will use the continuity created by the movie, and not shoehorn the movie into the original comic canon.

I think you're right, that he is the writer who killed Quasar.

Of course, name one good Quasar story. Ever.

Was pretty good that he could prove he's got some GI Joe geek-cred instead of just being one of these people who say they loved it but can't bring up anything to prove they were there like the rest of us.

Can see where he'd get in trouble giving a way too much but it did sound like it was in pretty good hands with something new fans could get into without having to throw out all the old fans in the process. And with the movie not being tied in then love or hate the live action film it's not going to muck with the story.

I've been generally pleased, if not exactly ecstatic, over IDW's take on Transformers and Star Trek. Probably a bit more impressed with Trek than I have been with TF.

We'll see how they do with G.I.Joe. The BIG positive for me is that the movie will exist in a separate continuity. Another big positive is the involvement of Larry Hama. My biggest concern is continuity. Let us not throw out everything established by Marvel and DDP. That would be a huge mistake.

I'll be interested to see what sorts of reprints they do. Always bugged me a bit that Marvel never got past #50 with their trade paperback compilations.

The original Marvel Two-in-One stories and when he goes to the New Universe.
