Rather than posting a new thread for one thing, I'll post it here.
A few months ago I pre-ordered the new Special Edition magazine from Cinema Retro. This one covered the James Bond movie 'Dr No' and included a lot of behind the scenes things (locations past and present, poster artwork, publicity stills, etc, etc).
http://www.cinemaretro.com/index.php?/a ... -SITE.htmlI have gotten all of the Special Editions (Where Eagles Dare, The Dollars Trilogy, Kelly's Heroes, the updated Where Eagles Dare) before and have highly praised and recommended them on here. Cinema Retro is a great magazine that covers 60s and 70s cinema and history.
Anyway, last Friday I contacted the Editor-in-Chief, whom I have corresponded with before. Any of you that have the Bond 50 blu ray or DVD sets and have listened to the commentaries might recognize his name. Lee Pfeiffer. He has written several James Bond reference books I have on my shelves.
Anyway, I hadn't received my copy of this issue and explained this to him. He checked my address and stated he would send out a replacement issue. Yesterday I got home to find the magazine had arrived. It was sent in a Priority envelope with a thick cardboard backer, with the magazine itself sealed in a plastic mailer envelope. It was not haphazardly tossed in, but someone took the time to get it right, which they have done for each Special Edition I've received before.
Nowadays we hear about poor customer service, but the folks at Cinema Retro
http://www.cinemaretro.com/index.php are the real deal.
I highly recommend them to any film connoisseur..
