It's kind of rough where the musicians I grew up listening to are to the age where "died of a heart attack" is more of a "yeah, he's about that age" rather than "no way."

Oh no! I got to chat with him when I was deployed to the desert when he came out as part a USO tour not long after 9/11. He was amazingly supportive and engaging with the troops - will always have my respect for that.

^ I keep coming across similar testimonies on various social media platforms regarding "Coolio". He really made an impression on that tour / in Kuwait.

With that said...

what eerie timing. I just recently (last 48 hrs) watched a video where he stated that he didn't say much about the industry that he had been in for decades due to fearing for the safety of his children and family. This was in response to a question regarding whether he would speak out on certain topics (and whether he had witnessed any industry "weirdness"). I hadn't thought about or seen news regarding "Coolio" for years prior to that video.


I really hope that video wasn't recent.

Edit: Only 5 months old.

Really odd timing of the algorithms considering i watched it 24-36 hrs before his death.

Hope he made it to that Gangsta's Paradise...
