no paypal, no thanks.

i don't trust them with my accounts. paypal has been the only way i haven't been hit by fraud. our bank account got hit 3 times before i finally went paypal only. never one problem since. it really sucks since i just started actually selling a lot.

I don't think that's the case. I think what you saw was just an option they were trying to sell you on.
I doubt they would actually try that as they would have tons of people upset.

I've been selling some on ebay. I haven't seen anything about not being able to accept paypal. Only thing I saw was something about getting my funds faster if I have them do a direct deposit instead of going through paypal but it wasn't worth it for me.

people can still pay with pay pal. i also saw those messages saying i "could" get paid faster etc. then yesterday it was in my active seller hub page that i had to update my account to accept strait to my bank, and they would no longer put funds into my paypal account.

right up top of my selling page:

Payments
Getting paid on eBay has changed
Update your account details now to ensure there is no interruption to your selling.
Update your details
^click that^

It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay
Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps.

Update your details
Do this later
^CLICK^

Simpler fees
Your eBay selling fees and expenses will be automatically deducted from your earnings before you get paid. The remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account. No more PayPal payment processing fees. No more separate monthly fee payments.

Convenient payouts
Regardless of how the buyer pays, payouts are consistently initiated Monday through Friday, within 2 business days of order confirmation. Once a payout is initiated, funds will be available in your bank account per normal bank processing times, typically within 1-4 business days.

Safe selling
We only ask for the information we need to keep you safe and pay out your earnings. Your trust is our priority. We have also simplified claim and seller protections to make your experience even easier.

What you pay
Most sellers will pay the same or less than before.* See fee details

Buyer options
Buyers have more ways to pay, from PayPal to Google Pay and Apple Pay. All earnings will be deposited into your bank account regardless of how buyers pay.

so i could click "do this later" but instead i bailed. all my auctions can be turned back on easily, but i don't want to use my account.

They sold or split them off so they aren't as integrated any more.

when ebay bought pp it was made mandatory that all transactions use pp. kind of the "company store" of the modern age. so now they split and ebay makes themselves the currency holders for all sales, and they not only charge tax on all sales now they will be issuing all sales to the irs for sellers. just like "income" tax it is double taxing sellers.

I wasn't crazy about this, and I'm not fond of the fact that it takes longer for the money to get to my back account, but I didn't pull my stuff. It is what it is.

As for the IRS, I don't sell enough to be worth their notice.

I’m still selling on eBay and use PayPal for everything. Haven’t had any issues being paid or paying when I buy

What he said.

I have seen the "Get Paid Quicker" link but haven't looked into it.

I do remember getting an email a while back about ebay starting it's own pay service, but beyond that I've never lost access to Paypal

i'm pretty sure it goes into full effect in january. maybe they got pushback and scaled it back? i hope it returns to sellers getting paid, and paying fees on paypal. the whole reason i use paypal is to not expose my bank account to online anything.
