Post subject:  Kambei R.I.P.

I'm starting to run out of words to express the sorrow over the past year. David "Kambei" Mason passed away over the weekend and I was hoping to see if anything beyond that would come out. It seems to have happened suddenly with lots of friends on FB saying they'd just talked to him the other day. He was from the UK and so while I knew him online, I didn't ever have the oppertunity to meet him. He was very talented and very kind, always eager to share tips and help people in the community. While he loved steampunk his most recent focus (as of 2014) was translating the 12" International Joes into 3 3/4". If you have the time, please take a look at his work and celebrate at least one aspect of his life.

I clicked the link and went through the Gallery of submissions. A lot of items I recognized, a lot of them I bookmarked to refer back to.

I didn't know him personally and I can't recall any communication between us, but the community has lost a contributer and someone passionate about customizing.

Prayers for his Family as they begin to deal and process his passing.

i took a few hrs going through his gallery. his historical figures are so good. i seem to remember some from critique way back when i found jc .mainly the palace guard and the desert jeep. his judge dredd set of figures is bigger than anything i've ever seen from that property. all his sci-fi stuff is great looking too.

what took me by total surprise were his pinhead and cenobites. i have seen them in the gallery, but had no idea they were created by the same customiser who made all those great real world military customs. they were figures i referenced 100 times while making my own pinhead. i would of never had the nerve to drill all those tiny holes if not for his going there first. now i feel compelled to track down parts to make the rest of the set.

a really beautiful custom of his that i never saw before was bride of frankenstein

Kambei was a big presence at JC when I joined. He was someone I looked up to in this hobby. Thoughts go out to his family, his friends, and his fellow JCers.
