Post subject: 25A Long Range, my take... ÜÜÜ (image-heavy)

Straight off the heels of our Recoil combo project, me and ZK are proud to bring you guys our 25A rendition of Long Range.

Pix below show where I got the inspiration:
- DTC Long Range (ROCC driver) - thanks YoJoe.com
Image

- Sigma Six Long Range (depicted as a sniper, and was even released in a desert scheme) - Thanks JBL
Image

- Hot Toys Desert Sniper (12") - Thanks Hot Toys
Image

Since I didn't have a Desert Sniper yet (got Lowlight, Crosshairs, and Barrel Roll customs already), I decided to redux Long Range in 25A form, reused his DTC head paying homage to his DTC roots (driver), making him a sniper (Sigma Six) but repainted him in Desert Storm camo (I was always a fan of the tri-color desert rather than the 6-color choco chip and the current digi-pat).

Without further ado, I present to you..25A Long Range. :)

- Front

- Back

- Geared Up!

Action shots! :)

Prone and primed to take the shot...

Hope you like him as much as me and ZK enjoyed doing this guy. ;)

P.S.
Recipe:
Head - DTC Long Range (modded)
Body - Reso Duke (modded with glued on bbi canteen and pouch, scilpted sleeves to make it full length)
Vest - Bazooka Trooper (sliced the four middle chest pouches, then glued them back on the belt section)
Gun - AK with bullpup design, high powered scope and suppresor. Still need a Marauder bipod to complete the look.

That is SWEET. I love the paint aps.
The only critique is the skin tones- but I know that's sometimes caused by the flash too.
I love the real world feel he has.

JFAK075,
Yeah, seems like the flash showed a different skintone for the neck part. I may have to try to touch that up (or use the Desert Maj Bludd soft goods to cover it up..hehehehe). Thanks man.

PaidLoad
not that one..hahaha! Glad to know you liked my try. :)

chrysophylax,
Puttees can be overlooked homie..but you gotta agree when you saw it personally last Saturday..you liked the camo. :-)

Feel free to copy man. Thanks for your comments by the way. :)

I really love the look of this custom. I had to go get one of my old uniforms out to check it out. Spectacular job.

The neck and head are slightly off... You could just mark it up to him being a sniper. What sniper would allow his dirty face that close to his weapon and scope....

I like this one a lot. The camo is tight. The modified webgear is looks fantastic. Fix the skin tones and this one is all around win.

crowncoke and pluv,
Thanks fellas. With the constructive critiques I've been getting about the mismatched tones on LR's face and neck, I'll fix them over the weekend. Really appreciate those inputs. :)

Once you fix the skin up this guy's gonna be perfect. Seems like he should also have something around his neck. ;) He looks excellent and I love this take on LR.

The camo is awesome, the web gear is truly inspired (the mods and the paint are perfect), and I love the extra gear added to the uniform. I don't want to just parrot the other comments, but yeah the skin tone is an issue because it tends to distract from the quality of the figure. I'd recommend matching it up rather than covering it up, only because you might want to still pose him without neck gear.

Also of note for me (as a big fan of the Resolute Duke base figure) is that none of the detractors of that figure have commented on its "birthing hips" in relation to this custom. To me, that means you've made an excellent figure! It's also a nice base figure for the detailed painting you've done (imho) since there are very limited paint rubs at the hips, and the joints all have a nice base color to work with.

MacGyver and drbindy,
Thanks guys. Tell you what..I'ma fix the skintone on the neck area, and then come up with a removable soft goods (Desert Bludd) just for kicks. That way, LR looks better without the scarf, but I still have the option to emulate his Desert Sigma Six look with the soft goods. :)
