Ok, some of you know that I'm a big Moon Knight fan. I made several over the past few years just like with my Batman. And as with my Batman, I decided that the Microman body was just too skinny for beefy ol' Marc Spector, so I went ahead and used up another MLS Magneto body (I cleaned out the KB Outlet here in town, so my endless supply is no longer endless) and whipped this up yesterday:

Image

I went with the black & white version, even though it's not the most iconic one I really dig the look.

EDIT: and now that I look at the pics, I can see that the Moon emblem is a little too much like a "C" and not enough like a crescent moon - so I'll be fixing that.

Here was my obvious inspiration:

Image

Side-by-side with my Micro Mooney:

And hanging with my MLS Bats:

Then there's this guy - he's been on my "to-do" list for months, but I never found a suitable head until now:

Image

I used a microman Devilman body (the feet are what sold me) and searched and searched for a head but came up blank. I ordered the cool Werewolf head from GTG, but then last night I decided to make a "closed-mouth" version so I'd have swappable heads. Monkeywrench proved to be as close to perfect as I could get - the scraggly beard really helped and once I got some paint on it took on a life of its own. The "fur was made by sculpting on some green stuff and then using an MLS Beast to imprint the pattern on top of it. Turned out pretty cool, I think.

Here are the WIPs:

Image

And the finished Team of Jack & Marc:

Image

The only problem I have is that now my new MK is a little too tall compared to the Micro Werewolf. But according to the Marvel Handbook, Jack's only like 5'10", so I'll call MK over 6' and deal with it (Jack's always crouching anyway.)

Once I get my $5 Dragonhawk delivered, I'll go to work on my MoonCopter and pop that up for your viewing pleasure.

Have a safe and happy 4th!

They turned out great, the color scheme for Moon knight is better than a solid color. The Wolf head is inspired never would have guessed monkey wrench was the base.

I'd be happy to take micro mooney off your hands :shifty:

That wolf fig is fabulous. Using the Monkeywrench head is just plain inspired.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

And no, Billy - Micro Mooney's staying with me. We've been thru too much together :P

Yeah, the Monkeywrench head was a freak accident. I was digging thru the fodder head drawer last night thinking I'd have to sculpt an entire Werewolf head on top of a Gung-ho or Duke or some other generic head, then the MW head just popped out at me. I still wasn't convinced even after re-sculpting the top of the head, but when I did a quick brown wipe over him, I knew I'd found my Jack Russell. The great part is that the "teeth" are just a dab of white paint on MW's lip. The half-assed job I did actually made it look like he had a snaggletooth sticking out, so I left it as-is.

Most of my best work is purely accidental ;)

Thanks again!

The moonknight is great. I was wondering how long it would take someone to start using that body for another hero after your Batman. Never thought it would be you. :D

The wolfman is flat out awesome. You nailed everything perfectly. I can't see one thing I'd change.

Well, I went back and changed some stuff :P

Actually, I just wanted to touch up the paint apps and redo MK's hood (the glued-on one didn't look right from the top & back.)

So here's my update - they look a little cleaner now, IMO.

Thanks again fellas!

Nicely done, Chief'ns. Can't say I've ever been a big fan of Moonie, altho I did read a bit of his 'Fist of Khonshu' days due to Chris Warner's nice art; but you've got quite a nice little 'dark avengers of the night' club going on. And yes, inspired use of the MW noggin.

Thanks! Actually, the older series' really didn't do anything for me, although some of the storylines were good, they didn't do enough to flesh out the character, IMO. The new series is awesome and really puts some extra dimensions to MK. It's the only Marvel title I'll buy anymore.

I should post my "Dark Avengers" as a group, since now I have Black Mooney, Black Spidey, Black Wolvie, and of course, your favorite - DarkHawk! :P

I love the Vermin... I don't really like the character but that's a straight up good custom.

He's actually Werewolf-by-Night, not Vermin, although I've always been bothered by the fact that the characters look so much alike (brown fur & green pants)

Here's the bio: http://www.marveldirectory.com/individu ... rewolf.htm

Thanks!

No, he is the night!

And a Werewolf-by-night custom? Be a little more obscure next time.

Seriously, though great work on both of 'em.
