Ok, so back hereI teased this custom. I was moving at the time and couldn’t finish him off – which, really, just involved a decal. So here’s the anti-climactic reveal:

It’s not comic-accurate (since when has that stopped me?) and it is an homage to a not entirely popular look for him. But the parts just screamed for me to make him this way. And it beats just working up a Marvel body, for purposes of scale in my verse.

Also, there’s this…

Image

I figured revealing Iron Fist would also be a good time to finish off a Misty Knight custom. I had sculpted that hair onto a Darth Talon head almost 2 years ago, if that sheds any light on the WIP purgatory that is my basement.

I do see some touch ups needed in these pics. Also – if you’ve read along this far – I went for a weathered look. Would the outfit be more appealing if it were shiny?

Getting a tune-up:

“You know what they say, sweetheart, if you don’t leave it alone, it will never heal. Look at all that damage - what are you using this thing for? I have half a mind to invalidate your warranty, and don’t think I won’t do it…”

I think Misty needs the bullet hole through the hair.

Iron Fist is simple. Works both as Marvel and as a JOE character.

You're getting pretty good at sculpting unzipped catsuits. ;-)

Where's the challenge in sculpting them zipped? ;)

So, these ok then? Should I smooth out Misty's suit, or leave it weathered?

Misty Knight needs a MU figure ASAP. but if/when it happens it will only be half as good as that custom of yours. that is AWESOME.

I like that look for Iron Fist. A lot. I think it might have been cooler to make the collar gold too to pay homage to the original outfit but overall I like the padded look for him better.

Thanks guys!

pluv, that's not a bad call on the collar. I was to some degree following the contours of the sculpt which, as you implied, might help sell the padded look. I also decided to keep the extra armor bits black, as it helped ground him visually in my slightly more realistic/gritty verse. Though EXCAL doesn't seem to be nearly as grounded as it once was... lol

IRON FIST IS INCREDIBLE!

That's easily my favorite custom of the character, in this or any other scale. Great use of the movie Storm Shadow, topped off with sweet, sweet paint apps. I'm also a huge fan of your photos. My favorites are with the hat and flame.

In all honesty, I have no idea who Misty is, but the piece is gorgeous. Out of all the artists on here, I feel you handle female customs the best, with just the right balance of the vampy and the real.

Man these are fantastic. I don't even know where to start. That Misty is so full of soul funk. I want a couple.

Like them both, but Iron Fist is great.

thanks again guys! Shoulda maybe had that Misty head cast, but I think I can do better on my next try. I will also give the tip to anyone who digs that color for fleshtones that it is testor's "Earth Red". I had at one point switched almost exclusively to Games Workshop paints, but they've changed enough lately that I've started giving testors another shot. I used a very this black wash over it to add shading and reduce the shine to the finish, but that color really popped, compared to others I have used.

Nice Iron Fist. I was going to basically do the same thing for a "movie-verse" Iron Fist.
