Glad you guys dig him.

I believe that Gun is from General Tomahawk.

I didn't hate the Multiverse head, but for Joker it was way too sedate.

Fortunately I had a five dollar card for TRU, so this head only cost me about five bucks with tax. And it takes paint very well.

I had to drill out the existing neck on the multiverse figure and transplant the sprukits neck with the head for it to sit right.

Other mods to the base figure include Cobra Commander knees and legs with Sabretooth feet for added articulation and height, some hands from a Dragonsky Club subscription figure, and the top of a Lego flower for his lapel. I also sculpted on the tie and some more pronounced buttons.

Hey all. Long time since I could post but I've been keeping busy with my efforts to update/upgrade characters I've done before.

The latest to get this treatment was inspired by my son, whose favorite character is Batman's original ward.

I had a Nightwing I was relatively happy with, but since I've upgraded most of the other members of the Bat Family he felt a little too dirty/gritty/realistic for the comic-book-clean look I've been gravitating toward. Here's his replacement:

He's got a more acrobat-like build than my previous long-and-lean-teen version and, because I used the light-up-pedestal Black Panther figure as a base, a light metallic blue sheen on the black that I thought make it look like a form of armor rather than a leotard:

Here's a shot of him and the rest of the Bat Boys:

What do you guys think?

Thanks. I'm working on a way to make his sticks lock together as a staff, but for now i think he'll do.

Meanwhile, I had a really tough challenge on my plate: Coming up with a non-robotic Brainiac that was anywhere near as cool as the Super Powers inspired one Hypno sent me.

Here's where I ended up:

I didn't want to do the Superfriends version for a number of reasons,, so I looked at more recent comic appearances for inspiration.

Thoughts?

you gotta tell us what all is involved with this Brainiac figure Spin, because it looks like a DC exclusive, and I have no idea what parts are all you.

Also, I missed the Nightwing update before, but holy cow that set now looks as good or better than anything you could hope to see for DC figures in any scale or form, shy of Hot Toys.

Is that a Bleeding Edge Iron Man with a Martian Manhunter head?

Glad you guys dig it.

Knees to neck, it's Space Armor Iron Man (the black and white one from the last wave of Universe figures), and the Whiplash lower legs and Marty Manny head. For the nioggin gems, I stuck little pieces of red lightsaber into his skull and then melted them slightly to create the convex effect.

I want to find a Kandor accessory for him, but I think maybe tentacles (a'la the Justice League toon) might be easier.

There's an Imaginext Brainiac out now with tentacles. And there is a Kandor accessory, but the Superman figure it came with is going for quite a bit now.

That head is perfect for him. It is alright for Manhunter, but man it kills for this custom.

So it's been a long while since I revisited my DC customs, but a fortunate find at a TRU over the weekend inspired me.

My son is a Batman Beyond nut and the figure they released for the Multiverse line had soooo much potential. But proportions and articulation hampered it significantly.

At his urging, we grabbed the one we saw and he challenged me to make it better.

It took some serious work on the upper arms and a new set of lowers (which had to be adapted for the wrist scallops), plus new lower legs (with knees), but here's where I landed:

It was criminal that the factory figure didn't come with glider wings, so I had to make a set of those:

And, of course, I needed an unmasked Terry McGinnis head:

What do you guys think?

I think I'm taking notes, as I bought the same figure with the intent of improving it as well.
