I had modified a DCIH Sinestro a while back when I was customizing DC heroes in that scale (to go with the hyper-articulated SDCC set), but I was never entirely satisfied with the hips, which I hadn't modified much to accept the ball-socket legs.

I went back at the custom and remedied that by replacing the whole lower torso with bits from a couple of Super Hero Showdown figures. A belt to cover the seam and he was standing taller:

Here he is with my updated Hal (now sporting a movie head, per a recommendation from earlier in this thread:

Well, poop - and to think I wasted all that time painting mine yellow  --- to be fair, they only had the blue/black version of Sinestro at the time.

I think it turned out really well - at first I was concerned because the torso seems short in comparison to the legs, but then I realized that Sinestro IS an alien after all, so I can accept some slightly wonky proportions. Looks clean and awesome.

My only critique (and this is true of Hal, too) - is that you've got the rings on their ring fingers rather than their middle fingers (as usually show in the comics/toons/etc.) A minor nitpick, but a personal preference. But then again, I guess they're called "ring fingers" for a reason ;-)

Awesome stuff Spin!

Thanks, Chief.

I never realized that the rings rode the middle finger on these guys. Might have to go and fix that.

Glad you dig him, though.

I also Like the Reynolds head on the GL. Sinestro looks better too. I normally don't care for DCIH scale, but you have some nicd mods here. Good job, its so nice seeing all the great DC figs lately on the site...LOVE IT!

Not unlike my Sinestro, this is pretty much a straight-up adaptation of the DCIH Doomsday to a better hip/leg construction (with some pairing back of the shoulder/back growths):

Getting that upper body to accept those legs was kind of an engineering feat. Used a lot of hot glue and some random pegs to jury rig a large t-bar.The new legs not only add articulation but add considerable height as well, as this comparison shot with my Supes custom demonstrates:

You know, it's been said before, but I just don't think it can be said enough.
If this is the way the DCIH figures would've looked in the store, I would've bought them all.

Simply fantastic work.

Loving your Superhero and villains customs. But I am glad they weren't at retail like this cause I would be even broker, and even more frustrated trying to find them to buy like Joe lately.

Only thing I would change on Doomsday is to paint the upper hips of the legs the same green as the briefs. He just looks a bit too superhero-y with the briefs but if you tattered the bottom edges of the hips and painted them to match it would look more like the pantlegs were ripped off as in the comics.

Or you could use the 3-pack Things legs which would give you that trunks look he had in the comics.

I would extend the pants a bit further and add the silver bands accross the legs.

Mysty and Unknown - I'm embarrassed that I didn't have either of those ideas.

Definitely will be implementing.

Thanks!

I like that he's got a bit of size, but he's not too big. I've always used the 6" DCUC Doomsday as my default - he's too small for DCUC (exactly the same height as 6" Supes) and a little too big for my 1:18 customs, since he ends up clocking in at a hair over 9ft in-scale.

Really dig the way you melded the parts together, and once you turn his speedos into boxer-briefs, you'll have a real winner :D

Only problem is the lack of an elbow swivel - but that's due to the DCIH base fig, correct?
