spent yesterday working on this banner and trying to nail a head i like. way too many hrs for the results, but the banner is where my vision was. i wanted it to be ragged weathered and look hand painted like ones i saw on american pickers. it was a single sketch book page but i ended up adding another piece of paper on back. lots of glue and actually crumpling up and rubbing,

Image

i took the shotgun approach and started 3 heads at once. the wrestling guy was my back-up from the beginning and you can see holes in his head from pinning the hat. i grabbed a different version of him and cut down the lenard guys head. sprayed with white with my original quick sketch of the character.

before i edited pics i was still up in the air on which one i liked for him. i was leaning towards the middle wrestler head with the long strait eye make up. now i am sure the far left wrestler head is the best! the lenard head is grossly too big and scary! he would pass for zangeff?
Image
spme slight filtering

now he needs a hat.

thoughts? am i crazy? i see a big difference in the different paint jobs!! what to do with the rejects? some ICP juggalo fodder?

i was thinking about the art of miniatures (where our scale is huge) and there is no where to hide. a mural painter can lead your eyes away from a mistake or something wonky. we have 1/2 inch to get it right, and the 35mm guys have much less.

after several failed attempts at scratch building a top hat today using tape, vinyl, wire, paper, heatshrink, and a few i am forgetting. i settled myself to use this one

Image

i'm not sure if i posted a pic of it back with my voodoo brothers twa or not. i got the rubber figure for .25 cents iirc at a thrift store just to try to harvest the hat. after a lot of grinding, so much that it "candles" held up to a light, i think it will work.

after more failures trying to get better skeleton hands than my first hat, using thred, glue, string, horse hair, wire, thinner wire, and a few i'm forgetting. i just cut new daisy petals down for 2.0 hat.

so no progress pics. i did get super glue everywhere including nearly gluing my fingers together!

LEGO has a top hat like that looks like what you're after:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=27149&name=Minifigure,%20Headgear%20Hat,%20Top%20Hat%20with%20Ribbon&category=%5BMinifigure,%20Headgear%5D#T=C

LEGO helmets are usually too small for Joe heads, but the hats can work sometimes. I don't have any extras of these but I could snap a shot of one on a Joe head if that would help.

after seeing alleyviperelite use the ready player one guy torso for a relic i dug mine out and stuck some horns on it. i didn't think about it again until yesterday when i saw ready player one and thor ragnorok for the first time. i think this bash looks like the doom skull guy relic!
Image
no paint or anything just some kiss spikes for horns.

i.ve painted this figure 3 or 4 times trying to get it to look like embers. i don't like giving up, but maybe i need to just revisit it later.

gnawgahyde has been a wip forever. i was waiting on buying some new sculpting stuff to tackle the mutton chops. insted i used some hotglue.
