Cross-Country's primary military specialty is armor, and his secondary military specialty is heavy equipment operator. His father was a bulldozer operator, and his mother drove a grader, therefore he had a natural affinity for heavy machinery, coupled with an uncanny sense of direction and fearlessness under fire. He is an avid study of war history, especially the Civil war era, considers the tactics one would use against their neighbor to often be far more extreme than that devised for our enemy.

Sci-Fi is known for being patient and taking his time, traits which aid him in aiming a laser over long distances for extended periods of time. When Sci-Fi braces his weapon and sights in on a target, he becomes as immobile as a rock, with no discernible movement of any kind. At a range of 2 1/2 miles, the impact spot of laser light will jump one hundred feet for every one thousandth of an inch movement at the source. Sci-Fi transcends mere stillness to hold that spot on target, long enough to burn through that source.[1]

Sci-Fi took a leave of absence to complete his master's degree in electrical engineering, returning with the skill set necessary to enact unparalleled enhancements to the security systems in G.I. Joe headquarters.

Low-Light is one of the sneakiest members of the Joe Team. He can move through foliage and in the dead of night virtually undetected. He can maintain his position and be still for hours. It doesn't matter what advantage the enemy has, when the sun goes down and you can't even see two inches from you, that is when you know that the darkness is where Low-Light truly reigns. Low-Light's superb sniper skill enables him to pick off his targets in even the lowest of illumination affordable. He prefers to maintain his own night-vision equipment. He actually made his own innovations in image-intensification, mostly self-taught, and even holds two patents from his efforts
