Great adventure set.
Your Kre-O idol is pretty nice.
Both Air Adventurers look pretty cool, but I was hoping to see a modified version of the sculpt you've been using for the rest of this project instead of the Club's whose sleepy eyes remind me too much of the sculpt we got during the 40th.

This is another set that really looks like fun!

Love the pilots, even in their simplicity. And the chopper looks sweet. Only the idol is throwing me off this round, though I also appreciate what you're generally trying to accomplish by using that.

Thanks guys. I can't take credit for the orange Air Adventurer, it's 100% the Club's. I just added the shoulder holster to make them a bit more vintage accurate. The blue Copter Rescue Adventurer came out a bit rougher (paint wise) than I like. I'll have some touch-ups to do, but I tried to improve on the club's recipe as far as parts. I had a few cast Adventurer heads that I picked about a year ago. I think they were cast from the Club's mold.

The idol was just for fun lol. I thought it would be neat to include something Kre-O. I have a few Indiana Jones relics that will probably be used when I get around to building my display.

Kidding aside, another winner. The source figures have an era-sensitive "plain" quality to them, which I think is hard to pull off in this scale. But you're doing it. With clean paints and clean lines, and great accessories. The individual figures are quality, but the overall scope and scale and combined execution is epic.

Lol. You're right about the originals having a plain quality. It's why I used so many 25th/RoC parts to make these. Since I was aiming for that vintage feel, POC and more modern parts have too much detail (if that makes any sense).

I have a few reference books covering the 12 inch figures, so I'm curious what you looked at to come up with these customs.

For the first half of the project (the 1960's), I used ''The Complete Encyclopedia to GI Joe'' by Vincent Santelmo. It was super useful to sort out uniforms and accessories. Most pictures that I found online from this series have mixed and matched clothing from different years.

For the second half (the Adventure Team), I also used the same book. However, there are several websites with good quality Hasbro catalog scans from the seventies, so sorting everything out was much easier.

Along the way, I also read a couple of books on the creation and history of GI Joe in 1964 and beyond. I learned all about Merrill Hassenfeld, Don Levine and the others that contributed in creating the brand.
