I have mixed feelings. First, I have no internal conflict on the customs themselves - the last few rounds have been especially awesome.
But I can't shake the feeling that from the SWARM on, this is really a fantastic portfolio for a new property, distinct from Joe/Cobra. So I'm loving the figures, but I'm feeling like it would be maybe even better as a stand alone line.
Now - I was thinking that before I made the Starcom realization. I'm big on mixing together my 80s properties, so I like that. But it does kind of emphasize the feeling that this would have been an amazing non-Joe 80's toon.
That's all just a personal interpretation though. There's really no critique in there.
If I had to make a critique it would be the opponent of the SWARM shouldn't be SWARM Hunters (too derivative)... it should be something bold like the EXTERMINATORS.
lol
I get what you are saying. That is a really interesting way of looking at it. I had not considered it like that. I think part of the disconnect might come from the fact that Starcom was a space based story and the SWARM is very sci-fi. It may have been better suited to a Star Brigade crossover. Still, it's the kind of plan the Sunbow Cobra Commander could have come up with I think.
They probably won't stay the SWARM Hunters in my verse for long. Bucky and Dusty79 made most of the SWARM so the team won't have anything to hunt. Lol.
