The new batman looks better. I do agree he's pretty dark though and a different head would be cool but this still works with the dark colors scheme on yours

Thanks, guys.

If I can find a more comic-faithful head, I'll probably use it, but a good looking one in this scale is kind of hard to come by,

As for the bat symbol, I could probably get behind the yellow oval for better contrast.

I appreciate the comments.

I don't know what your stance is on using custom casts for your customs, but Slayer has a custom comic-accurate Batman head:

Ears are a tad long, though, but that's easily sanded down.

For some reason, Captain Marvel wasn't even on my DC radar when I was making a list of characters I wanted. Weird, really, because I loved the live-action TV show as a kid.

Then I started seeing some great takes on the character from guys like Robulus and Iron Will. Seriously solid work. But the fact that I picked the same nit with both regarding the lack of a sculpted flap on Shazam's chest made me realize how much I care about the character. And I felt it would be hypocritical of me not to make one that at least tries to incorporate this element into the design.

This is where I landed on that effort.

I was loosely basing the look off of Alex Ross' Kingdom Come work. Ambitious, I know, and obviously "loosely" is the key word. I think it ended up looking more like the old JLI version.

It wasn't at all easy. Will was right that there really aren't any existing torsos out there that combine the right look with the right size. So I had to modify a Doc Samson torso pretty extensively.

So what do you think? Worth the effort?

I'm sorry I haven't kept up with this thread because there is some really neat stuff here. I like that you took the effort to make Captain Marvel different than your Superman. He's a character that I never really rank with my faves, but his look is so cool and iconic and you captured it quite well.

A very nice classic look. Alot different take from what Iron Will or myself put out recently. It has more of a Golden Age feel. I like the work on the flap it turned out very nice and was well worth the effort. My only small critique is the Yellow boots. I just think making them the same gold as the emblem and wrist guards would flow better. To me they stick out too much. Very nice work all around here. Very clean painting and sculpting.

Nice job! Gotta agree on the boots though I would go with gold all the way through.

Thanks, guys. I'm glad all the work on the torso paid off.

Shining up the boots should be easy enough, so I think I'll go ahead and do that today.

Really appreciate the comments.

Another cool DC character, though the neck looks a bit thick from the side

Looks great ! I would add a black line around the chest logo to make it pop out more.(By the way I'm hurt that you didn't mention me in your shout out.) 8-O :verymad: :-D and since you said your already doing it disregard the need to paint the boots. If I decide to make another version of the Captain ,Which I might becasue he is my favorite character,I may have to steal the Airborne head,It does have a certain Kevin Maguire look from JLI to it.

Gah! That's a big "mea culpa." Yours was definitely one of the ones that inspired me to do this.

Thanks for the catch on the button, too. I'll take care of that while the gold paint is out tonight.

And I'll give the black outline a shot on the lightning bolt. I'm notoriously bad with that kind of thing, though.

Thanks for the comments, all.
