And my Space Warrior Jet Pack. The model comes with a back peg in case you are wondering. No glue needed. The peg is long so you can trim it to fit, and the thrusters are separate pieces so you can angle them however you want.

And the Power Pack. This model also come with a peg that can be trimmed to length, and the top portion has a 5mm peg hole on each side. At the moment I only have one weapon that can be pegged into it.

Are you planning to cast and sell that jet pack? I'd definitely be interested in a few of those.

I like how these look in clear plastic. It shows off the sculpted details better than a solid color. I wouldn't want parts replicated in clear but for showing off the design work it makes a big difference.

What other types of things are you going to make for the power pack?

I haven't decided what I will be molding yet. The sockets in the pack could be problematic, it might be easier just to leave em on shapeways. I would like to make some more weapons, maybe some missile pods and lasers for the power pack.

I was looking into 3D printing for non-joe stuff a while back, and then I came across your posts here. The classes I'm taking this quarter we're working with 3DS Max. Unfortunatley I'm not so good at modeling, but a friend of mine is and we got talking about making some custom heads (to start with). Just this week our instructor mentioned that our school had a 3D printer, I didn't even know. He also mentioned that the students get a discount there. Ours prints using ABS plastic but I haven't check it out yet or the pricing. He also mentioned that the printed items had to be sanded afterwards, but that may have been for what he needed, I don't know yet.

It sounds like your printer might be geared towards larger objects, but dang that is pretty sweet to have first hand access to one. I would love to just sit and watch one work.

No it is obviously a Space Warrior Pack. I certainly would not want to be accused of stealing the IP of Games workshop. :)

So I went and checked on my schools printing capabilities. The price seems really sweet at $2.50 per cubic inch os material used. So this may be very useful for figure or small parts for vehicles. However I found out that our printer does not have the highest quality resolution, and indeed sanding will be required for desired smoothness. The desk people told me it may not be ideal for doing heads (because of resolution). But, I think simpler designs, say something like the ARAH "helmeted" heads ie. some of the different Vipers, it may just work. When I go back next quarter I'll be taking some designs with me to try out. I'll let you's know.
Great topic Asphalt, thanks a million.

Oh to have a sculpted basic body form for both sexes in crystal clear. Especially for use with Predator tech.

That Jet Pack is poetry. Seriously.

If you are the one who ordered the space warrir jetpack and got the email about it being rejected hit me up with a PM. I talked with customer support about it and all is now well and ready for a second try.
