Yup. Remco wanted their own line for the sword & sorcery market and DC wanted in the toy market, so they made Lost World of Warlord 5.5" figures with tie-in comics using Warlord and other DC characters. It didn't take off that well, so DC dropped out and Remco continued on with the Warrior Beasts line.

Nailed it! I never got into Warrior Beasts, but I had all of the Warlord guys.

I appreciate it man. Yeah Remco made some great stuff back in the 80s. The Mighty Crusaders and World of Warlord were two of my favorites. American Defense a GI Joe knockoff was awesome too and I would like to add some of those characters to this project. There is a custom group I can't recall the name but DanOfTheDead (one of my favorite customizers) is a part of the group and they have actually made a lot of the American Defense figures into modern Joe scaled customs.

He's also a DC character?

Yes sir as MarkM said he was a DC character I think that started as a comic book in the late 70s maybe. Then they grabbed some other characters like Hercules from Hercules Unbound and tossed them in the line even though they weren't all together in the comics or anything.

I'm remembering a DCUA figure of him, maybe w custom, now that I think about it. Never realized it was the same character as the MotU style figure. Thanks for the info all!

Your figure is great, by the way. I forgot to comment on it. I didn't like most of the MOTU knock-offs when I was a kid, but I loved the Remco stuff. Craven from Warrior Beasts was one of my absolute favorite figures, MOTU or fake MOTU.

Sizemore is right about Warlock being from the '70's then brought back. If I remember correctly, they even did mini-comics with the figures, just like MOTU.

I've decided to go back and "fix" a lot of my older customs that kick started this thread. So, similar to Warlord Rambo gets a new head cast from Spartan118 that I've had for a while and finally painted. Also repainted his whole torso. Trautman also gets an upgraded head (just a random head cast I thought looked like him) instead of the generic Marauder head I had been using.

Looks great. I only ever did General Warhawk. So wild that that first movie with its themes of ptsd and soldiers dealing with reintegration with society became a cartoon. 80's were really the wild west of cartoon and toy concepts.

Kinda makes me want to make fake toylines for other R movies...

Yeah, but I kind of get Rambo. Stallone was huge and they wanted to cash in. GI Joe was massive so give Rambo a little squad to lead and make it GI Joe like and sell some toys. Still an outrageous idea to take a Vietnam vet suffering from PTSD from an R rated movie and turn it into a cartoon aimed at children.

Police Academy is the one that blows my mind. No big names and that movie was clearly not intended for kids and yet got a cartoon and toyline. 80s right....such an awesome time.

Another one of my favorite Remco lines was Mighty Crusaders. Basically if World of Warlord was Remco's answer to He-Man then Mighty Crusaders was their answer to the Super Powers and Secret Wars lines.

Awesome! Loved these guys as a kid - my fave was the Fox because he had a whole Black Panther-y thing going on.

Never saw these before that I can recall. Your customs look great. Comet looks like cyclops.

I had the Fox. I remember agonizing over which one I wanted, but he came with a pistol and rifle. Plus, you know, blue devil looking costume. Told you that to say I LOVE these. Love em.

I pop into this thread every few days or so just to look through all of these amazing customs. This is basically my dream project: all the toys I wanted as a kid but wished were in 1:18 scale. And the fact that you've done the entire roster of so many of these lines is incredible.

Those Mighty Crusaders figures are beautiful. I never had any of them as a kid, but I wanted The Fox so badly. You absolutely nailed him with your version. Using the Cyclops head for Comet was a great choice, too.

Fox was always my favorite though I had all of them. They were an odd set of figures. Bodies seemed a little off, but still fun.

Yeah, in the comics his head resembled cyclops much more not really sure what look the toy was going for.

Same though I think I like Fox because he gave me Batman type vibes.

Thanks I really appreciate that. Always something I wanted too.

Well...from an 80s perspective I think I have hit at least one character from all of the "big" properties. I still want to finish some teams off like I still need 4 more to finish Rambo Force of Freedom, a few more for Karate Kommandos, Jayce could use Herc and some other of his allies, the kids from Defenders of the Earth etc.

Air Raiders is a franchise I would like to make some characters from. There was a cartoon planned but never made, but there was a comic.

I've made a couple of Sky Commanders but haven't posted them here, but I would like to add to them too.

I'm currently looking back over old customs and deciding which ones need to be redone as I think my customizing has improved since this project started a few years ago. Bionic 6 really kickstarter this project so I want to remake them.
