I just stumbled upon these, and they are excellent. Really stellar. I especially like Night Force Snake Eyes and Sgt. Six (airborne v2). He was one of my favorites as a kid (probably because he belonged to my brother and I was jealous). And Gung Ho is perfect. I had to think about where the head came from.

Since it is clear that you have pay very close attention to details, I must point out that Sgt. Slaughter wouldn't wear a T-shirt that says "army" on it, and Spirit's bow is upside down.

I have decided to postpone Recondo and Outback for another wee. My second child should be arriving any day now, so I am going to post up customs that have been done and were on my waiting list for later in the year. (I am such a geek, I have customs planned out and what month they get showcased so as to not flood the thread all at once).
Once things settle down, I will get my Recondo and Outback done and posted.

In the meantime, I plan on showcasing a custom a day next week, for a week long event I had started planning in July when I was on medical leave from work. 7 customs, all loosely tied around one theme.

As requested, here is the picture of one of the attackers at New Mexico outpost. As mentioned the other night, Scoop spent several hours pouring over the footage to find a single shot from the surveillance footage that might help us identify the attackers. Due to the damage to the facility, at this time the freeze frame shown here is our only lead. Scoop has indicated with more time, he might be able to grab more screen shots.

I've seen quite a few takes on Night Vulture in the modern sculpt, but this one is probably my favorite. That webgear is down right perfect for him.

Day 3 Cloudburst. I wasn't to keen on this one.. I tried several different combo's til I came up with one that I was satisfied with. I wish I could have found a little something more different for the webgear, but no luck.


and I hate painting white. ugh.

DAMN!!! Cloudburst is all kinds of awesome. ♡ I dig that you kept his original design but just toned down the colors a few shades. Perfection!

Day 4. Air Devil. Took along time to figure out the horns, which is something I wanted on there to set him apart from reular Air Devil customs. Thank you PIF box!

Day 5 and Skymate is up.

Regarding Skymate, I went back and forth with hat or beret. Chose beret, after some wikipedia research indicated that Australian special forces wear red beret's. I thought it would be a good substitute for the hat, which didn't quite fit the figure. I tried to model his face and facial hair like Chibs from Sons of Anarchy.

Air Commando week ends with a new face. I wanted to do Ace, but decided to try my hand at a new character, while using style cues from the battle copter Ace.
I chose Nimbus because it sounded feminine, and kinda went with the cloudy/sky color pattern.
Maybe she's Ace's niece or something...



next: Outback! Finally

9/29, Outback.
I have been working on Outback since right after the convention. I saw a great Outback custom at a dealer booth that set the wheels in motion. Not sure who's it was, but it was a heavy duty roc torso, with dtc outback arms and head. I thought it was a great idea, and decided I wanted to try it, but get away from the Roc torso.

I went back and forth on this one forever, and at one point had an entirely different Outback custom ready to go, with a Jungle Duke head, Resolute Beachead torso and arms, and Jungle Duke pants. But it didn't seem like Outback to me.

So I dug out the parts that I had picked up at the con, and came up with this. I received wet transfer decals for a variety of customs, including this one from several community members such as dusty79 on joecustoms.com, and lowlight 27 on og13.com, so props go to those gentlemen.
The "87" is a dry transfer decal that I picked up at hobby lobby.
