Scroll to the end for an updated picture and bio.

Here's a Snow Job based custom, but it will be an original character. I have a rough bio in mind that I will add in later, tying him into the EXCAL organization I touched on previously. I was planning on naming him Avalanche, but my Joe-verse knowledge between about 1986 and now has been slim. But after seeing that name was taken by a Joe while cross checking on YoJoe, I'm now at a loss. Ideas are welcome, as our critiques of the figure.

It's basically a SW comic pack head (one of the guys disguised as a Storm Trooper), which a sculpted hood, and scultped removable cap. I also weathered/dirtied him up a bit. As with the previous post, I will replace with better pictures if I can get them. I have a long ways to go, but I'm not sure the picture quality is helping either.

I love the look of this one- don't see many bald customs. Kudos for that.

We prefer the term "shaved" :shifty:

That's been a sore spot for me, actually, as I've been working on a self inspired custom. This head works nice on this figure, but wasn't what I needed. My avatar is the basis for my favorite figure I'll post later on. While it's not a self custom per se, it's certainly inspired as such.

And thanks for your comments on both threads. I'm glad you like this one. I think the quality of the picture here helps.

Nice custom!

Folically challenged? I think he better keep that cap on all the time.

Dude, I've been bald since I was 21- I'm now 38. So, I've been a member of that club for a while now ;-) :-D .

And, don't let it be a sore spot, no reason at all.

lol - the sore spot wasn't my baldness - heck I look better bald - :whistling: it was the lack of bald 1/18 scale head options with which to commemorate my own baldness that has had me scuffling.

Well if he has US mnountian trianing he probably came out of the 10th Mountain Division. Maybe something like Sabre (their insignia is cross sabres), Drum Roll (based out of Fort Drum NY but also an ammo drum). If you wanted something more in line with his cold weather training you could do Tundra, Snowball, Snowman, or Mailman (delveris the paint throgh rain, sleet, or snow). Hell he's bald and white even Cueball or Q Ball would work.

Excellent. Nice head choice, and the weathering to the body gives a very man-of-action feel. Me likes!

Nice figure. I'd call him Glacier.

These are all awesome ideas guys. I think I've narrowed it down to... Glacier, since it's in line with the name I originally planned - and also kind of fits his ice cold stare. But Q-Ball will be hard for me to pass up on.

I'll also be kicking myself for not thinking of Private Snowball on my own all night, even though I don't think that will be his ultimate name.

Thanks everyone. I'll post the choice and his bio soon. Glad he's gone over well.

That is a really COOL custom, I like Glacier as well, and I'll be joining the ranks of hairless heros very soon as my four is rappidly becoming an eight head. :rotfl:

Great job and parts choice, the 25th Serpy head might work well for an adult Avitar custom. I'm working pon one myself can't wait to see yours.

I'm really glad this one has gone over well. I've been doing a lot of customs over the last few months, and now have the incentive to post more - but it first gives me an incentive to find a way to take some better damned pictures, which I really haven't had luck with.

As for the Avitar - I may be confused, or may have made a confusing comment, but I meant I've been looking for the right head for a self-inspired custom, to look a bit like the character picture with my profile. That's what I meant by avatar. I actually have one now, it was just hard finding the right one. Hope to post him soon.

Re: Reference Letter for Quentin White, aka Glacier

Mr. Queen:
I am writing this letter, at your request, but with some reluctance. I think the work you are doing with your new organization is fantastic, which is why I hesitate to write a letter endorsing a man that I think could ultimately hurt your efforts. But I know why you have targeted Quentin White, so I will hold up my end of the bargain.

As I'm sure you've heard, "Glacier" was a Joe Greenshirt that was assigned to me, as he was a cold weather combat specialist. I don't know for sure why he picked that codename, but it sure as hell isn't indicative of the pace he takes in the field (let's call it "hasty" instead?). It might still be fitting though, based on the sizeable path he tends to clear in his wake. Anyway, some of the guys thought he picked that name because of that creepy, cold-as-ice stare he gets…well, he doesn't get it, he has it - always. When you're across the table from the guy for chow, it's like sitting across from a serial killer. But that creepiness sure hasn't kept the guys from poking fun at him. When they saw that bald dome (for a cold weather specialist?) I thought they were going to cry from laughing so hard. Then, when they found out his file name is Quentin White, I think the name Q-Ball came to several guys at once.

But you know how most guys enjoy a little razzing, and they kind of come back with one liners that let you know, hey this guy is alright? Well not good ole Q-Ball. The guy has no sense of humor at all. He just quietly stares back until the laughter stops, and an uncomfortable silence just hangs there. I'm telling you, at a minimum that this guy is bad for morale if he's used in any group setting whatsoever. He's a loner, there's no doubt about that.

I also have to say just this one more thing, and knowing what you know, this shouldn't surprise you. I think the guy is just flat out dangerous. I won't go so far as to blame him for me losing my leg, but he damned near wiped out our whole arctic assault team when the large scale attacks started. I guess you'd have to say that day was still a victory, since we stopped that Cobra attack (what are we calling these guys now? MEDUSA??), but the way he recklessly stormed in for a full frontal assault blew our cover, and the rest of our team simply weren't as lucky as I was.

As for his skills? I'd have to admit I would not want to go up against the guy. He's fearless and deadly. He'll do whatever it takes to get to his target - and I've seen him do some crazy things. It's like he thinks he's competing in the damned X-Games with some of the risks he takes jumping off slopes you just shouldn't jump down.

But Mr. Queen, if you're asking for my endorsement, the best I can say is that as a solo operative, on critical, dangerous assignments, I think he'll get the job done. Just know that he will do so at any cost.

Sincerely,
Snow Job

P.S. - Thanks for asking how I've been. I'm still recuperating, and I don't like being laid up. I guess since the Joes are now no-more, I wouldn't have a unit to return to anyway. Please keep me posted on how your new organization goes. And if you find you need someone to train your sharpshooters, please keep me in mind.

He looks great all geared up. I especially like the sculpted cap.
