I got the idea for this when we were submitting ideas for the next year long No Joe Challenge, and someone suggested recreating a famous or iconic cover. I had what I thought was a cool idea, and then was sort of glad that option was not the one that was selected for this year, because I didn't want to wait that long to show this:

X-Factor #100

I thought that that crazy Duke head would work well for this, and possibly nothing else.

Havok in lament

I have also wanted to do this custom for quite a while finally got the parts together to make it happen

Law & Order: Trial of the Century Jack McCoy

Torso: 82 Breaker (heavily modified)

Right Thigh: Quick Kick

Sweet use of that Duke head. Your stuff has been impressing me more and more dude. Great job. Really dig the L&O custom as well.

Thanks! I got tired of hand painting that thing on his chest, so I glued one of those little rubber things from inside the 25A thighs onto the end of a needle and used it as a sort of paint stamp. Came out a lot nicer, I think.

The only matter of critique I would give is on the L&O figure - and I acknowledge that it may well be a trick of the lighting, but it looks like the coat is very matte in finish, and the arms very gloss. I'd consider doing some kind of uniform sealant that would make them a better match. But like I said, it may be an issue in the photos only.

Yea, that's sort of bugging me too. I didn't use any sealer on this because the only parts that got color changed were dyed black, but I'll probably run over that jacket with a layer of paint to get a more uniform look before all's said and done.

That's probably your problem. Dye doesn't come out shiney especially when done using high heat. Raps taught me this trick that works pretty weel. Get some of those Armorall wipes and go over the dyed coat that should bring out the natural shine of the plastic and will protect it too.

Madrox and Havoc look really good too. Great use of parts on those guys.

For some reason I thought Bizarro Sputnik would look like a cool figure. You know, the complete opposite of the craptastic regular Sputnik. :D Maybe for an unmasked head he should have a high and tight flat top. Anything that isn't long slimey hippy hair will work.
